Anything changed from beta to final?Follow

Game is out for final now and I assume people are playing? are the gripes people had with the game in open beta still there or is the final release a patched up and polished game? Any suprises of silly ideas being removed or new ideas put in?

I'm guessing open beta is basically what final is now but would be nice to hear differently, if not "it's only beta" will change to "it's only just been released". I've been hoping the game was going to have major work from beta > final but the low key nature of the forums after release lead me to believe otherwise atm.

Is the game even playable yet?

Hardware mouse enable checkbox in the config. That's a pretty easy but big addition...

Let's see...

Leve's went from 16 ( 8 regional & 8 local ) every 48 hours to 8 ( 8 regional OR local) every 36 hours... kind of a "have a crap-burger" kind of a feeling about that one...

reduced time on anima regen (supposedly) from 1 point every 6 hour to 1 point every 4 hour

I'm sure they put in more of the storyline after the lv 1 and lv 10 parts

implemented guild quests

gave us proper official recipes (thank god, was getting tired of not being able to make a tabard front lol)

Not the major changes I was hoping for, there's some positives though. (Instead of "It's just beta" it can be "Wait for the next big patch!") = P

Anyway, one noticeable thing in Gridania was that the emote part of the opening quest works like it should now...the people tell you the right hints. A negative about that was I got much less gil from that opening quest...I didn't mind it so much when it gave me 30k+ lol

Lag seems improved with crafting and other menus...haven't tried selling junk to NPCs yet...

One thing I'm really happy about is my abilities seem to be saved on that class...so my macros are only simple /equips for the weapons/tools and my other abilities are showing up when I change. Oops, yeah I was wrong on this one...it seemed like it was working that way because I didn't have a lot of abilities yet. What it was doing was keeping the same setup when I switched...so I could go from conjurer quickly to mining or botany and then when I switched back my old stuff would still be there because I didn't change my abilities. Now that I'm switching between conjurer & thaumaturge it's looking like I'll need to make those detailed macros again...sorry! Hopefully changes are still coming for that as well...

It's still better than it was in regards to those quick switches to a gathering job...especially as thm or conj because exaltation/tranquility never leave your action bar so the timer doesn't reset. That's a huge success at least, once you're getting into bigger macros it may only work as long as you don't overwrite the space its on...I'll have to play with that further...

Haven't been able to join guilds yet or look for guild specific quests...coming soon I hope. (Haven't looked very hard for those yet though)

I actually enjoyed the beta so I'm "ok" with how it is now, I'm thinking people who were totally put off by the beta won't be as happy. I know that's not a lot of info, but I haven't done a whole lot yet. I'll try to update if I notice anything significant to add...

That's not the case, I just grabbed 8 battle/field leves as well as 8 crafting...good news because the lodestone site said different...

Can you pick up all 8 leves in the same city now? Or is there only 4 in each city like in beta?

Wow, I don't understand how simple things like item/inventory sorting wouldn't have been added in yet...

Have they at least added in some new hotkeys so you don't have to navigate through menus just to open your bag?

Another thing that bugged me in the beta was that it would tell you that "something" was damaged but it was cumbersome to determine *which* piece of gear your had needed repair - was hoping something would be done to make this easier as well.

Also the party search system was horrible in the beta - a huge step back from the easy-to-use and robust party system in FFXI - hoping this gets fixed real soon. I know we won't see auction houses right away, but I sure hope it gets implemented in the near future. I believe there was a "placeholder" for an auction house in the beta at Limsa Lominsa so at least that's a good sign of things to come.

People are just doing their beta habits and not trying to find anything. Quests have indeed been added. Hairstyles I'm not sure as I already had the look I wanted for my character.

Lalafell female still only had 4 hairstyles & I think someone mentioned Miqo'te had nothing new for hair. That's why I brought up the next patch thing in my previous post, I'm not sure they did all those changes yet...

I saw 4 battle leves for the 1st camp, I was able to get 8 in one town because I mixed in some fieldcraft leves...

I swear people have no reading comprehension. Where in that long list of upcoming changes did they state anything about those changes being in at the release of the game. Most of you people just ASSUMED that.

From the FFXICore translation...

Quote:
New hairstyles will be added, as well as the ability to change hairstyle in game after you make your character.

"Will be added," does not mean, "Will be added at release." It's vague. You just assumed it was at release.

Yeah there's some confusion.

Fieldcraft leves has always been a part of the regional leves, which adds to your 8 regional.

Prerelease party. Many of the updates were scheduled to be for release, so people did assume all would be.

That irritated the heck outta me, too. PLUS the fact that when something was damaged, and you got that nifty icon at the top of your screen, when I clicked on it ...... it was in Japanese. I DON'T know Japanese. Did they fix that?

Also ... in beta when I finally figured out how to repair my own gear, there were two gear items that were IMPOSSIBLE for me to repair because the game wouldn't let me remove them: undershirt and underwear. Did they fix that? Will those items be immune to damage now? Is there a way to buy new underclothes from some vendor? This is what I truly want to know.

Didn't keep track of the exact numbers, but one was 6k, another 9k, and then maybe 2k so around half of what we got before and a lot of the "weathered" tools & weapons are slightly more expensive now. None under 1k...including the bronze secondary gathering items like the gig, scythe, & sledgehammer. Not sure as I'm not in town anymore, but the secondary crafting items may be under 1k still. Anyway, I bring all that up because I wasn't able to get all of the starter weapons/tools right from the get go like in beta...

The first story quest Gil award for Grinania made that starter town attractive. I wonder if the Gil award at LL was reduced too? I believe that was a 20k Gil award.

I knew they were just being generous for testing purposes in beta, and they would do stuff like this on launch. I'm still waiting to hear if they also chopped down exp/skill gain rates. Less money, more expensive items, grind mode has been activated.

Fieldcraft leves were definitely brought back to reality as far as experience goes. I remember gettin' some insane amounts in beta especially if I added guardian's aspect...now it's like maybe a little more than you'd get just grinding a gathering job.(Per fish caught or whatever) The leves that ask you to gather a specific item still get a boost when you get that item...not as huge though.

It's funny walking through the beginning areas because you'll see like 5+ people going to work on a poor tree.

Fighting exp seems to be the same for me so far...best to stray off the common paths and find a cozy little spot without the mass competition of course...
And obviously I'm not high level yet & experience always seems good at the start...

Crafting leve exp seems similar to beta, maybe a small hit? I did my full 8 crafting leves and quickly got alchemy4, weaving5, & cooking5. Haven't done crafting outside of the leves yet...

Starter quests giving 20k or 30k...?
I must have missed something, LL was the only city I was able to obtain 1k.
the others gave 100gil...

But to the comment about adding a reply to tells feature, there was no such feature in Beta, there was 'send a tell to the last person YOU sent a tell to' feature, with CTRL R, but if you never sent them a tell, but received a tell from them, it would not work. (Very annoying)

I still get the shaky camera when going down hills and that half inch bar that seems out of sync.

Game is running alot smoother now though. I have been in 'green' latency when I have been playing. haven dropped to yellow or red.

you gotta hit the spacebar FIRST before doing Ctrl+R... worked in beta, probably works now (get my game in an hour)

For people that never played FFXI it's understandable if they didn't realize this but in XI you couldn't CTRL+R and send a tell if you never had a tell in your history to begin with. It's exactly like XI's with a change to it as in you have to send them a tell as well, so it may be annoying to some but it still works in generally the same way.

Again, that ONLY works if you have sent them a tell 1st (and yes i know to use spacebar)
it was the same for everyone else in my LS, you cant reply, just send another tell to the last person u sent a tell to. (beta)

Yea at the start of open beta it was like that, after one of the patches if you made a new character and completed the opening quest it usually added up to about 30k at the end. And then another 30k for the one at rank10. It was pretty sweet...

There is an NPC now specialise in undies, he/she would be the one selling Weathered Clothes in Beta. Sadly the one in Ul'dah only sell Hyur/Lalafell undies...

Rank 16 weapons are now available in NPC shop, but only in specific cities. For example, Ul'dah has rank 16 weapon for Thaumaturge, Gladiator and Pugilist; LL should have rank 16 for Marauder and Gridania should have rank 16 for Lancer, Archer and Conjurer.

A lot of materials have seen their price double or triple. A lot of items for sale in NPC shop were moving around from this NPC to the next NPC instead. I also believe a few was added in compared to Open Beta.

UI still has some lag, most noticeably synth/craft and buy/sell with NPC.

Connection shown is perpetually green, most likely fake, when the server clearly lags (Gysahl). For instance, I was happily hitting monsters for half a minute and they just stand there till they die. My Hp regen every 40 seconds instead of normally 5 seconds interval, etc.

That dashboard dummylight is just for roundtrip network connectivity? It doesn't take into account server side lag, database & database connectivity lag?

That's good to know (a relief really). I hope they're cheap.

What got me in beta was that that when I repaired EVERYTHING (save for the undies), I STILL had that darn red icon showing I had damaged gear. =__= I hope I don't see that in this retail version.

I remembered I can repair my undies fine in Beta, but the red icon still shows because of the Accessories (Rings, Earrings et.c) can't be repaired by NPC. Maybe Miqo'te undies are just special? Maybe that's why they don't sell Miqo'te undies.

How did you do it? I mean, I know you can't repair items that you're wearing. Did you have some alternative undies to wear? My toon did not ... didn't know where to find any. I certainly hope it's not cuz my toon was a Miqo'te. O__o

After getting into the game today, it's really disheartening seeing players already crafting rank.10+ items like an assembly line. I finished the first part of the story line in Grid and the overall rewards dropped from 30k Gil down to 13k Gil. Also prices for crafting materials looks like they all went up across the board. I think materials like Muddy Water and Luan Lumber doubled in price. But I did notice that armor rewards were not included with any of the low level battle leves. However a few of the battle leves also included crystals, not shards, as part of the reward.

Ugh.. not Lauan Lumber! Seriously, that was a POWER synth to skill up. 2.5k for 5 synths at 300 sp a pop..

Crafters were already raking us over the colas for that level 8 spear.. with double in prices I think they thought it would deter some of the mass crafters.. All it's going to do is send prices soaring.

I think it's a good thing that they lowered the starting quest gil. 30k was a pretty ridiculous amount to be given for quests that take such little effort, come on.

It was obvious theyd lower the gil rewards as there would be more people in retail than open beta. Also the 3rd quest gives you 15k.
