This may be the issue. The representative over the phone was giving me completely false information. They're phone support is now unavailable. Woohoo...Guess I'll just play and wait till later and try out a new character.
The first representative was telling me that FFXIV couldn't be on the free 30 day trial (yes, he said FFXIV, not FFXI, as I tried to correct him). I told him other people were running around with them on, how could that possibly be true. He also told me that after 30 days I would receive the boots "if everything was set up correctly" on my characters, despite everything I've seen telling me I have to create a new character. Needless to say, I got a little peeved at this guy, telling him I wasn't buying his answer and I really didn't want to wait another 15 minutes (probably a slight exaggeration) on the phone to get through. He had a long pause and was not saying anything, so I just hung up.
Their phone service finally came back up. I got a second representative. He was much nicer and made note of my issue, though he had no real answer. He put in some petition to get my problem looked at by someone and I might possibly (he couldn't guarantee) get a response. I told him a bout it possibly being a billing issue or that info from the lodestone site. He didn't seem to know, but at least he wasn't feeding me BS answers.
