I think the securtiy token, extra days to start before everyone else and the journal is worth it to me. The token makes an account almost unhackable, the journal is nifty and starting early in a new MMO is a massive boost.

I'm in Huntingdon, but I'm a yank with a NA CE. If you don't get it sold via ebay pm me I'll gladly buy it and even come pick it up.

However with your starting bid and considering others are trying to sell the tumbler alone for 60ish USD... I think you'll sell yours. I might just go to a video game store and buy CE in punds and then sell the game I suppose.

If you've any plans to go back to America any time soon I would grab a load of 'em and take 'em with you. You could probably make a killing.

... They get a leather tumbler and a large cloth map, a heck lot better journal and we get nothing? What is this? There's got to be a logical explanation for this favoritism here. Maybe they're caring for the health of us fat amerikens and don't want us to drink more coke on tumblers?

No way. Why SE? Why do you betray me like this?

Does that mean beverages drank from this cup have faux effects? The beer I drink from it gives me a faux beer belly? :D

Yes, I kinda regret buying the CE now that I literally got nothing useful out of it (had an authenticator from FFXI). But I'm going to enjoy the next 7 days like $25 has never bought before!

I hope some marketing people in the NA SE branch take a lesson. Don't cheap out on us. I'm thinking the European offices went "hmm.. we have extra money, let's add some more cool stuff." Japan offices, "hmm.. we have extra money, let's add some more cool stuff." NA offices, "hmm... we have extra money, let's give the gamers signed pieces of paper and pocket the cash. Bonuses for all!"

We're trying to get out of recession. So selling our stuff to Americans means everyone's happy! ... except the Americans.

In all seriousness though I literally can not see a reason why the EU should get a better package. In fact, stick all the languages on one disc and ship exactly the same packages out worldwide. Surely that would lower production costs in the long run?

Something I should point out perhaps though...
People who bought the CE got what they were told they were going to get. It might seem unfair in comparison (okay it is unfair), but you shouldn't be feeling disappointed with what you were never going to get in the first place.

If you do feel like that, then you need to ask yourself the original reason why you bought the CE at all?

I really dont understand why NA version would get such rubbish, personally 81$ for a journal is a waste, who cares, no use, other wasted CE edition. wish they put better stuff like they do with call of duty and medal of honer now that worth the price.

Oh, who am I kidding. I probably will frame it and hang it up cause I'm a ******* loser like that.

The packaging looked more expensive than the content. It felt like it should of at least included a bottle of cologne. You know, to mask the assweat everyone will be having during their hours and hours of play.

The second one. The instructions tell you to not use it to hold liquids as this may cause damage.

True I can't image anyone would use it for that even if it could. But the whole point is that it could be used to hold beverages even if nobody will actually use it for that.

I didn't order it but I have read about it online and now I'm (even more) glad I didn't.

Because SE are douchebags who have begun to believe their own hype and at this point they are just pushing the limits to see what they can actually get away with.

I was really upset at first that my CE was delayed and I would have had to wait until the 24th for my copy. After seeing all these threads I realized that I can wait a bit longer and just get the standard edition instead because the item looks much cooler despite weather or not its more useful and its cheaper and should be easier to get my hands on since no one even had the CE in stock and the places that did only would sell it to me if I had pre ordered it first. Anyway I was wondering if the normal edition came with a buddy pass also? If not its no big deal.

I hadn't realised that the CEs for US/EU/JP regions were different, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a tumbler included (Australia is for whatever reason categorised in EU territory, as was the case in FFXI).

My wife and I both love the travel journal in the EU version, nice glossy art and lots of writing room in case you need a funky looking notepad. The security token is a bonus as well, because that would have cost another A$20 or so.

My only complaint is the price Australians have to pay for everything. Our CE retailed at $A99 including postage, and up to $A115 in-store. Based on our US-AUD exchange rate, I see US's Gamestop selling the CE for US$78, which works out to be A$82. That works out to be around 40% more expensive in Australia.

As for the in-game onion helm, it sure is fugly, but it dropped the weakness timer really low compared to open beta, which is a nice in-game bonus.

Yeah, I'm pretty mad about it. I just wanted the freakin microfiber map... I was all excited to receive it when I noticed my box looked nothing like the ones I had seen unboxing online... Then I got into it and found my glee converted into anger as SE rips NA once again.

Awell here's to hoping by the time i get back to germany from iraq there will still be a few CE's available for purchase.

Well it just funny to get a big box with hardly anything in it. would of been nice to get something worth while, maybe a chocobo doll, maybe statue, maybe necklace, keychain and a ring, something worth being a collector edition. Even the dvd on the making of the game was garbage. you would think with the money they make off of games, and merchandise, and with all there creativity they would try to really impress ppl on launch day but they did'nt, =/ so far se has been leading up to many disappointments, charge a lot give you very little.

maybe there next one will be the ultimate special platinum limited edition deluxe version that they will charge for 99$ with a bonus thumb warmer. <_<'

This.

I figured the DVD was going to be the youtube vids, but the key-code chain is kinda nerdy/cool to have on your chain.

Plus the box is nice.

The journal..eh...cool art, just not that much of it what am I going to write in it?

"today i iz fightn marmot, tommorrow i iz fight star marmot"

Also the in game item (helm) is really useful and I'm sure is going to be macro'ed in a lot in the coming months.

I would have LOVED to have the tumbler. The certificate, not so much. Maybe for sarcastic purposes, next to my degree, lol.

I'm going to fold it nicely, place it in a wooden jewelry box, bury it, then wonder what archaeologists hundreds of years from now will make of it.

this is honestly the first collector's edition I've regreted buying even a little. It was pathetic to say the least, Aion's was better and it didn't even have an artbook, which I love so much in collector's editions. The figurine is ok, but not my thing, but it's nice. The journal is nice, I guess, friend and I decided it's gonna be a scrap book for memories of the game for when we quit, that's about the best thing we came up with for it's uses. I will probably never get a SE collector's edition again, assuming it even comes stateside to begin with. Guild Wars 2 though, they didn't disappoint me on the original guild wars collector's, I don't plan to be disappointed with Guild Wars 2 CE either.

Back on topic, I started going off on a tangent. the NA collector's was a joke, imo, and they're probably laughing at us right now. I can't resist collector's editions, and in this case, I set myself up for disappointment. I actually thought the journal would have more artwork and be a bit larger at that, and I was wrong.

The collector's edition seemed to be... well... for collectors of things. Useless things. I got it for the security token, basically. I really don't want to get hacked, seeing how SE's record with helping out people who have been hacked isn't exactly amazing.

Geez, everybody, can't you all be happy with anything???

I like my collectors edition . .
I like playing early . . .
I LIKE my journal . . .
I think the certificate will be kinda novelty . . .
I like my security token . . .

All in all, I was well aware of what the collectors edition included, and that is why I went ahead and got it. I just don't understand you all complaining about what came with it or what didn't, when you were full aware of what you were getting when your purchased it!
(Well, at least you SHOULD have been aware, unless you're a goober head and don't read about what you're buying before you get it.)

Now I'm going to go back to playing my game because I LIKE THAT TOO!!!

Lol! Lighten up people.

Even worse, I went to do the right of passage thing when I had free time while trying to play this game. Right after I put the code in and am looking at what I have to do to get the thing. My computer restarts because the game overheated it. Then when I go back to the webpage it says I can't do it because the key has already been used. T_T

I actually wanted to get the CE really badly for the certificate... I thought it woulda been an awesome gift for my hubby since he loves collecting posters/pictures of his interests *has to deal with having an original TMNT movie poster framed in the bedroom* But funds prevented me from getting it.

So if anyone out there *really doesn't want theirs... </shameless>.

Seriously though the lacking even the map thing is a bit lame. I saw pics of it and the map looks reeeeally nice.
