was anyone thinking that you could reserve your beta name for the release of the game? me too, but this is ABSOLUTELY WRONG

- Transferring Character Names to the Official Release
Participants of the Open Beta Test will be able to transfer their character names to the official release. As long as the World selected in the Open Beta Test and the official release are the same, the character name used in the open beta test will be usable in the official release.

that is their(SE) statement on name transfer, what happens in reality is its still a first come first serve. no where on that paragraph does it say RESERVED, only USEABLE. when you are creating your character and you get the pop up to select your beta character names, its still only an AUTOFILL its not a pick your character name from the reserve list, only FFXI names are reserved. i have tried numerous times and over 2 horus of customer support. my beta name "Tifa Lockheart" was taken before i was able to get online, i thought, eh, doesnt matter its reserved for me. no no it is not. just an FYI, this has been a HUGE miscommunication on all sites. well at least to my understanding :D

I had no issues getting my reserved name. When you type in your code for FFXIV you need to click on the FFXIV service and not start a new service. This overrides your beta status but keeps the character names associated. Then all you have to do is join the same server you were on and it pops up a window asking to choose from a list of names that you had in open beta.

you are correct, but this is a simple autofil, not a pick your character from the reserve list, i have the same option and when i click it i get error code 1003, and on my other beta character it goes right though, someone already took my other name, but not my secondary. :(

the fact that you got your beta name is just, that you got it first :D

I thought I read on here in the past couple of weeks, that SE were going to block some of the popular names of chars from past titles such as Cloud and Sephiroth. That could possibly be your problem.

Edit: found the post Linky
