Few things I have noticed in retail.Follow

#1 Sep 22 2010 at 4:55 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, one thing I've noticed is you still can't organize your inventory, why they didn't include this is beyond me. The blacklist options still suck, you still have to type in a name by hand so probably expect to either filter shouts or type in gibberish names once RMT go to town. UI lag seems to still exist, but I'm believing it's more of a client side issue, probably my system bogging down the software mouse, haven't tried hardware yet. I'd like to try more but my roommate won't leave me alone for a minute. For someone who's played FFXI for years he's more clueless than a first-time MMORPG player. He can't even figure out how to "program" his game controller. -.-;;

When I attempt to equip a hat I still have to find all my head pieces amongs all my other gear. This needs to only list things that I can equip on my head.

Or you can just enable hardware mouse and click your target

I beleive there is a larger patch coming with the official launch of the game. Us with the CE version are getting early access.

yah, there's option for hardware mouse in the config file, it doesnt take so long to check that box lol.
i can log into game without being pre-order, can get to char selection screen, then it asks me to add subscription and boots me, but the hardware-mouse works like normal windows mouse, so there's no sluggishness to it.
Dont dawdle, go activate it! :)

im not an idiot, hardware mouse was already activated.
even FFXI had fkey usage, so i should just readily accept something like no Fkey usage even though it really is that common in gaming?
did you forget how easy it is to hit F8 and have it go to the nearest mob or NPC instead of having to maneuver your mouse over everything else to make sure you clicking the right thing? cuz when you have 80 people ontop of your mob or on top of your NPC, i should just click and hope i got the right one.

When I was in open beta, all you really had to do to select the nearest NPC was to hit F11. Some of the F keys work, but it is very limited. To select a target just hit "tab" and it will select you first, then a target and then the next, you can cycle through until you get the one you want. That works with NPC's too.

It is frustrating, but there are shortcuts in there, you just have to find them. Like if I hit the "home" key it automatically opens my menu and I use the arrow keys once I'm in there. I actually started getting used to doing it that way mostly instead of trying to select with my mouse - due to the horrible lag and/or loose mouse curser we had in the beginning with the mouse.

Hang in there, it will get better. I haven't gotten through with my installation yet, but I can hardly wait. I may not get to play until tomorrow, but what the heck, I'll be there eventually.

Or you could make a macro to select the closest NPC.

So in summary, Square is telling us we can all go Fkey ourselves.

I never said you were, however I didn't see you mention HWM being enabled. You may have, I dunno. As others have said you can also make a macro.

I recall in XI at the begining it was easier to create a macro for party members than it was to select them. Or at least when playing WHM initially I had a macro with the tanks name in it. It's been a long time and I don't recall why I did that. Just trying to say hopefully it will get better.

There is no more UI lag like there was in beta, perhaps what you're experience now is just server latency from overpopulation.

Um? What? The UI lag is pretty much gone, the server stability is great, and the game is pretty much awesome and significantly better than beta. If you hate the game so much why don't you just **** off, you big tool.

In XI ... I never used a mouse. Macros FTW.

You can still do this just instead of putting the tanks name use the <p#> that the tank is.

/ac Cure <p1>
if they are the first member in your party list.

Also as much as no one wants to say it, i dont see the Fkeys coming back for party targeting.
That worked in XI cause we had 6 party member then F8 was nearest NPC.

In XIV we can have upto 15 party member hence... <p0> <p1> .... <p14>
We do not have keyboards with 15 Fkeys so it would leave members out.
I was attempting to make all my CTRL macros to represent Fkeys as... CTRL 1 would be /target <p1> and CTRL 2 /target <p2>
and so on.... then you could just click ALT 1 which would be set as ... /ac Cure <t>
BUT!! /target... does not work its not in the cmd code yet.. so we have to find a way to set a specific target then create our own Fkeys.

just my thoughts
