Huge bug missed- Target is already engaged bugFollow

I found a huge bug that hurts gameplay a lot. Sometimes after u attack a monster, the name goes pink instead of red and if u try to attack it again, it gives u the message that "The enemy is already engaged" and u cannot do anything while it contiues to beat on u. After 10 seconds or so, the monster name turns red again and it lets u attack it.

This will surely get a lot of ppl killed if they attack harder mobs...

^ This.

Everyone is complaining about it, just due to so many people creating characters and all starting out at the same time. My advice is grit your teeth and bear it...and get out of the starter zones with all your classes before the 30th!

its a pretty big downer...coupled w/ the already lean content... the pigeon-holing of the zone has already begun to start digging a hole for ffxiv interest :S

I'm not so sure about that, I noticed if I try to initiate combat with a TP skill before hitting with the normal attack you start with that this happens more often. While I agree it is mostly happening in heavily congested areas, it does happen in the middle of nowhere when I strike with something other than Heavyblow (on PUG) first.

I have my doubts about it being server lag as well. I find it happens in low congestion areas as well as high ones - I have been trying to play at all times of the day to see when is best. My main concern is that if it IS server lag, and this is only the pre-release, what the **** is going to happen when everyone else gets here?

Even if it is server lag, it's a bigger issue than just "grin and bear it". It will get worse before it gets better, and that's a fact unless the underlying problem is addressed before next week.

I'm noticing that the more people around, the longer the glitch takes to resolve. In empty or sparsely populated areas, I won't get it at all or might get it for a round or two. In densely populated areas, I can go from full to half HP before I can actually start fighting back.

As a temporary fix, if you get this glitch, try to pull the mob away into a less populated area, or go elsewhere if possible (with guildleves, obviously it's not possible)
