YEAH I KNOW ALREADY! I AM THE ONE THAT ENGAGED IT! NOBODY ELSE IS AROUND ME! What the **** is going on here? I disengage and try again and I'll be able to get one hit on the mob and get spammed every time after the first this message.

It's frustrating for sure.

The mob was highlighted with a red name so even I'm seeing it as my targeted enemy that nobody else should be able to attack. I just don't understand how the server could mess that up at all. It's not like anybody was remotely nearby.

I see a lot of people telling others here how much this reminds them of FFXI's launch, but maybe I'm missing something as I don't remember half of these weird laggy glitches when I bought FFXI the week it was released.

Yeah, I've not encountered this in beta.

It's BS because the mob is attacking me but I can't do anything except run.

Early days are going to be rough. Aside from the buggy guildleves, there are NO random mobs to be found. 20 people arrive at the same target I saw from a distance.
Come on, SE could've increased the mobs in the newbie zones, or at least increased the respawn rate, just for the game start.

Yeah I just ran into this message a lot when partying with two friends a bit ago on Leves. It kept acting as if I wasn't in the party and couldn't attack the target. Same with the others in the party. The Leves were really laggy tonight.

Yeah this happened to 8 of our leves in a 5 man party non stop. It really seems like an issue with the claiming syste mwhen in a party.

Also names werent turning red and they didnt have the symbols next to their name that indicate toughness or mark levequest targets.

I smell emergency maint...

Not trying to sound like an ***, but by FFXI's launch, do you mean, the Japanese version of the game, which came out almost a full 2 years before it went to other countries like NA? Cause, we got a much-patched, 1st Expansion already added game, not a launch game.

The game, as it originally launched, did have quite a few issues. A lot. That was why we got it here so much later.

But on the topic: yeah, took me a while to figure it was really awful lag. I found myself waiting for my Leve's to start, after I've initiated them. Or, I found myself frozen by the Aetherite for a minute or 2 before being able to move. I didn't R0 or anything, and far as I can recall, I always had a green ping circle.

1st day jitters maybe?

i had this happen to me a few times. the worst one, was where i was fighting that cloud of flies? and from full health i watched it drop me to 0. thankfully, no exp loss and short weakness.

i was solo by the way.

Most issues like this can be explained away as "Day 1 MMO launch quirks". They'll be fixed.

This has actually been one of the smoothest MMO launches I've ever been a part of.

Had this issue while soloing a leve. It's not party-related. Not much you can do other than disengage, then re-engage after you've officially "left combat". Even that will sometimes only let you get 1 hit in before it glitches again.

The problem went away on its own for me after a little while. I'm sure it's just because the server is overloaded. Hopefully it'll be addressed in the coming day or two.

It really should have been fixed before release, because to me it sounds exactly like the "You can't perform that action" bug that people, including me, were experiencing in the beta over two weeks ago, just with a different error message.
