How do I use my Open beta name and likeness?Follow

I read that you can use your Open Beta name and likeness in the retail version, but when I go to make a character it doesn't let me choose what my character looked like in open beta (unless I actually remake him).

I am guessing that if I wanted to use my same name as Open Beta I would just reenter my name and same server after I had my character's looks figured out...

But is there a way to actually use your open beta likeness, or did that get thrown out the window? Or maybe I just read the article wrong.

When you go to create a character in a "New" slot, it will ask if you'd like to use saved character data, I believe. If you choose yes, you should see the rank 1 likenesses of your characters from Open Beta.

I can't remember exactly, though. I know I had the option and saw them and changed my mind, as I wanted to start fresh and clean yesterday.

Good luck to you!

I am up to the point of choosing a race and it hasn't asked me if I wanted to use saved data yet.

Do you think it's past that or do you think I should probably just continue and just remake my guy as best as I can?

When you registered your account on it should have asked if you want to link the account to your FFXIV beta account. If you did that AND did not delete the character data in your my documents folder, when creating a new character it will automatically register that you have saved character data. If it does not come up automatically, most likely something went wrong in the process and you need to start from scratch :(

The following assumes that you properly uninstalled the beta client.

When you uninstall the beta client, it leaves behind the old character data here: C:\User\My Documents\My Games\Square Enix ... etc.). Then when you install the retail version and register it on the square enix page ... I think it asks you something about linking your beta account to your retail account. I'm not sure now ... I did this last night with no issues.

Once registered, you open up your game and it'll do all the updating and whatnot. Then at some point prior to character creation, a message will pop up saying that "old character data has been detected". And it'll ask you if you'd like to use it. You say yes. And then the rest is simple.

Yep... That's what I did wrong then.

I linked my beta account, but when I was getting errors with my installer yesterday I went in and deleted EVERYTHING associated with the beta... including the document folder for open beta.

I was able to at least create my new character data/likeness before the servers went down.
