Greetings!

Just wondering if anyone else is still having trouble getting Hermes Shoes. I have a FFXI account from 2003 which has been on/off for years. Most recently it was turned off late July but I reactivated this morning to have a live subscription. The link to my SE account has been good since July. Every character I create fails to get the Hermes Shoes. My SE account shows Playonline as active status, with a good link. All seems normal. Anyone else getting this issue? Thanks!

I believe I heard people say before that you have to have an active FFXI subscription that's been billed within the last 30 days to get the hermes shoes. I can't remember where I read/heard it, but it seems to jive with what you're experiencing. I could be wrong, however.

Don't worry too much about it, they're not really worth the cost of the subscription at all. You equip them, get to run quickly for 15 minutes, then they don't do anything for 24 hours.

I beleave the ffxi account has to have been billed for a full 30 days before you get hermes shoes, its to stop people reactivating and account just to get them then canceling it again

I registered the codes for my PS3 FFXIII and preorder FFXIV items yesterday morning when I got the CE and I have had them on and off my toon all day. You just have to make sure you add them to the current FFXIV service in the Select Service section of account management.

Yep. I reactivated FFXI a couple of days ago in anticipation of the retail release, and linked my POL account.
I had the shoes when I made my character yesterday. I can definitely confirm that you can get the shoes as long as an active account is linked, even if it hasn't been officially charged yet. Tonight I'm going to cancel the FFXI account so I'll only be charged one month.

Uh... he wasn't talking about the FFXIII or preorder items.

And if I don't get the Hermes' shoes I am going to be ********* I reactivated my account about 2-3 hours after the monthly billing maintenance was done on Sept. 1st or 2nd...

I want my shoes, and I don't care if they only last 15 minutes per day.

I reactivated my FFXI account last night as i was installing FFXIV. Both linked on my account, haven't been billed for FFXI yet or in the past year and I got the shoes. So you don't have to have been billed or played for 30 days. They just need to both be registered under the same SE account ID, and be active. I don't know if the trial period effects it though.

Thank you everyone for continuing to post great information! It looks like there doesn't seem to be a duration or billing requirement, I do have a ticket submitted about the issue because my account is linked up and ready and yet still no shoes.

It takes about a day from when you reactivate your content ID for you to become eligible for boots. You do not have to actually be billed.

Credit goes to pintsizetaru for finding that.

As stated, it has nothing to do with billing but the fact that it takes about a day for your account to show as linked.

Looks pretty definitive on that one day time limit. I will post back later to report if that indeed is the issue. Thanks again everyone!

i actually found out that you have to input the codes before you even start the game, you dont have to make a second character and it not limited to one day, input all the codes for gloves, helm and boots, first before you create anything. if you happen to created your character first then input the code it will not show.

Just got back home and tried making another character, this time it gave a warning before name creation about Beta and FFXI names, a good sign. Upon logging in, Hermes Shoes were there. Thanks for your help everyone!

Yeah well I got the shoes... but only by LUCK. Not only do they not make it very clear that you have to enter the codes BEFORE creating your character, the guy at the help line I called actually told me to WAIT before using codes.

No now I added my FFXIII code and the Onion Helm code only to realize that I cant use it with my new character. Sure I can delete it and get the 2 other items on the new character, but them Im going to lose my Hermes Shoes!

To add insult to injury, I started the Rights of Passage registration before playing and realized I didn't know what area I wanted to be associated with yet, so I backed out. Guess what.. the code has already been used now and i cant get my certificate!

Ridiculous.

What are the chances that you can start up a new FFXI account, link it to my current account, and get another pair for a new character? Im guessing not likely as I already have 1 Hermes Shoes linked to the master account.

I give up. Typical Square Enix BS of never giving you enough information.

Thanks for the vent! :)

Are you sure that's true? I've deleted a character with the onion helm and created a new character, and my new character still had an onion helm. I'm pretty sure you would get all 3 times items if you deleted your character and created a new one.
