Anyone else worried about how easy it is to rank up now?Follow

An odd question, I know... the game just launched and we're all eager to grow... But the rank required to get from rank 5 to 6 is less than the rank required to get from 2-3 from open beta... And they've fixed gaurdian aspect levequests, I was getting 90-300 for single actions as a rank 1-5 pugilist doing rank 1 leves.

Given that for the short period of open beta, and that in that time people had already reached the level cap, that at the current rate of what seems like around half the required skill per rank and the increased skill during leves that people are going to be reaching the cap of 50 in no time at all...

Granted they will still have many jobs to play... but my fear is that there just won't be much to do, and who knows when SE will start implementing level cap increases or end game content.

The thought crossed through my mind for a split second. I haven't even been playing for a full day yet and I've out progressed my beta character that I spent about 4 days on. Granted, I know what I'm doing now and not wasting as much time, but it still is definitely faster.

Well, it might also be that SE made it easier to Level up in the lower Levels and steepen when we reach teens.

It is inevitable. The sooner you start playing, the sooner you catch up with the content.

SE can still control the character growth as they wish however, so they know what they are doing. They specifically said that they thought the exp needed to get to rank 10 was too much, but beyond that I think the difference will not be as noticeable.

Still, the game has a lot of content simply because of the class system alone. They are in a much better position than other MMO's.

I too was surprised when I dinged rank 5 during my first leve quest. Hopefully they adjusted the leveling curve so that maybe we get to rank 10 faster, but after-wards leveling goes slower. I know it sounds crazy, but I don't like leveling this fast, at least not on my first class in a new game.

I'm sure it will take longer to lvl the more we lvl. I remember back in the old days of FFXI it took about the same amount of XP and time to get from 60-75 as it did to get from 1-60.

I'm not worried because

a) there is still fatigue (isn't there?)
b) levels 1-10 shouldn't take a dogs age anyway (and thank god they don't)
c) we don't know the actual shape of the leveling curve
d) there are lots of jobs to play
e) level 50 is a lot higher than level 30
f) exp gain on gathering actually seems to have slowed down
g) people are saying crafting is more difficult now

I suppose that is encouraging... Totally dashes my plans of grinding all the DoW classes to 10 for shards/crystals to pieces though...

It still does. >.>

Unless they lowered the XP when they raised the cap? I haven't been on in about a year 'cept to reactivate for some Hermes. IIRC, the actual "Halfway point" was 63?

I didn't hear of anyone hitting rank 40 in OB (the cap back then)..

So I'm not really worried either. It will take months++ before the masses start hitting 50, and even then it'll be only the first 100k or so players.

To me as a THM leveling seems to have slowed down quite a bit. I don't know if I am just being unlucky but skill gain triggers are a lot slower than what they were previously. This is including on leves too, where even though I do get more (say 200 each gain, instead of 40) they are still happening a lot more rarer than previous testing. I am getting on average 150 skill each kill I make. It certainly didn't take me any where near what it took me to get to level 10 THM in Alpha/Beta/OB as it has done retail.

Physical exp seems to be roughly about the same however.

Keep in mind this game is different than FFXI. In FFXI, players were encouraged to concentrate on one main job at start with various sub jobs. In this game, we are encouraged to level many classes and while we are officially one specific class at a time, we really are a sumation of all our classes, using spells and job abilities from all of them. In that sense, you really should be concentrating on leveling many classes to be considered "high level", so it makes sense that the individual classes would level a faster pace.

I really like how fast the low levels go now. I did 4 leves on capenter and 4 on weaver and got to rank 6 in both, just from doing the leves. It was awesome. ^-^

I think its progressing fine right now. Going very quickly in the beginning levels but I'm sure around 20 or so it will start to slow down considerably. It makes sense though to level the beginning ones quickly to mix and match skills, that way you can get the other skills you need quickly but your focus will take a very long time.

there's lv 99 skills. so you can lv 30 classes to 99.
it wont be fast :)
and also, they might just have made it easier to lv at low lv, but you dont know how 20, or 30+ looks.

Getting to max level isn't the most fun aspect of an MMO. I was max level on several jobs in ffxi for 80% of the time that I played. I'd be much more concerned with hoping they have lots of end game content rather than hoping they drag out the process of getting there.

it would appear they made it much easier due to the fact there is no quest/adventure content to keep players busy on the grind to 50. huzzah!

How many faction leves have you done so far?

It's a trap! The first 10 ranks are easy to lure you in. It's becomes "fun" after that.

It's still not that easy when you have 30 people camping a single respawn of 3 mobs :)

i hits 28 physical in open beta and i barely played.
already 13 phys in this official game.
but honestly at rank 10 it starts getting REALLY slow. like 8000+ per level. so don't worry.

repeatable leve quest grinds =/ content. i'm talking about an engrossing story line that gives you a sense of direction and purpose to killing 5 mobs, or crafting something, or playing fetch, or playing delivery boy.

Faction quests are not normal leve quests. I am hoping there are storylines for each job, which in turn unlock other jobs. For example, doing the Conj storyline may unlock SMN, etc etc etc. That's the way I am hoping it progresses.

I am assuming they did that to get people out of the starting areas as fast as possible. The initial grind to get to level 10 causes the most congestion. After that, people start spreading out. Exploring, doing different things, and not hanging out infront of town. So, I am guessing SE wants us to get off our butts and get out of town quick.

I didn't notice actually, that's weird. I noticed i was leveling slower than in beta when just "grinding" but then in leves, I'm getting ridiculous progress.

hopefulyl that slows down, I dont want to level too quickly. I'm a big fan of leveling and like to take it at a steady pace and enjoy the content at the appropriate level so it's a challenge.

That said, good thing its faster 1-10, the level 1 leves have terribly poor prize money and I need 44k for a Bronze Labrys!!!!!
