I almost never use AMD chips, that Athlon is dual or quad core? The "II" next to it made me think dual but when I googled it, it seems to be a quad core. Anyway, the GPU definitely needs upgrading. Some other helpful info to give us would be a potential budget, and the current wattage of your power supply, as well as motherboard model number if you know it. If you don't CPU-Z is a good program to find out all this info.

1. Review system requirements on FFXIV website
http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/envi/envi01.html

2. compare your processors rank to the minium processor rank required for the game at this site

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

3. compare your graphics card to the minimum required graphics card at this site
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

if its not on the list your graphics card needs to be upgraded

My verdict - your processor meets requirements but your gfx card needs upgrading.

Run the benchmark on low and post your score... if you are just wanting to know if it will "run" the game.

If you are looking to upgrade your video card, you need to post your watts and amps for your powersupply. Otherwise you will upgrade the video card and may not have enough power. The graphic card I would suggest is the geforce 460. I see a lot of people buying it. I bought a 470 and love it.

Other things to consider.

Will the card physically fit into the pc case?
If you have to buy a powersupply, will it fit?

Anyone else have a wtf moment when they saw "Window Size and Display Mode 1280 × 720 (windowed)" under SE's recommended settings? When any game starts up in windowed mode, the first thing I do is figure out how to get it to full screen.

Haha very true. Recommended is a very tricky word. It is like when you buy a motorcycle and they tell you that a helmet is "recommended" in the event of a crash.

You definitely need a new power supply, I just googled your PC and it says the PSU is only 250W. A GTX 460 is probably gonna use about half of that wattage by itself.

I would go with a new power supply, as well as the semi expensive 5770. Its about $160ish, and should be able to hybrid crossfire with that 785g chipset just fine.

As for the nvidia fanboys, the fermi still has minor flaws and until nvidia fixes their sh*t, I would wait.

With a new PSU, and a 5770 running in Hybrid Xfire (crossfire), you would have no problems whatsoever. As for your CPU, if you wanted to upgrade, you could get the phenom 2 tricore, it is better than the quad core you have. However the one you have is good enough to run just about any game on the market at medium to high settings.

Btw what is your exact mobo? I can not for the life of me find your motherboard anywhere.

What kind of ram do you have? How much and what kind? ddr2 ddr3 1066 1333 1666?

Athlon II X4 630 would be the full name. The Athlon II and Phenom II designate AM3 socket instead of AM2. CPU's definitely good, have that and a GTX 460 in one of my computers, no issues (other than the display is a 1080i CRT RPTV and so I have to run in 720p to be able to read things at all). :)

As for the OP, looks like this is the specs sheet from HP: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02174835&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&lang=en&product=4223474#N1011.
