Hey everyone, loving the game so far. But i am very curios about one thing while the game runs okay and looks great. im 99% sure its only running on one of my 285 gtx cards..and does not support SLI. i was hoping someone could tell me the official word FRom Square enix on this. Will they patch it and allow us people that use SLI or crossfire to actually run this badboy they way it was ment to. i would love to turn ambient occlusion on. but with only one card that would be a joke.. 15fps with it on.. please help or post anything they may have said on this. thanks.

SLI is definitely not work in retail without using the fix, which can be found here:

http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/10596-nvidia-sli-fix-25896-drivers/

I have 2 GTX 285's as well, I play on 1920x1080, 4xAA and most other options on High and it ran okay but not to my liking originally. After doing the fix, EVGA's Precision Tool shows both GPUs are being used and I could really tell a difference in FPS. The game is much smoother now.

If you don't have a program that can measure your GPU usage, I recommend downloading EVGA Precision Tools, I think version 2 is the latest. It doesn't matter who manufactured your card, mine are Zotac and I can still use the tool. You can also use that to overclock your cards, monitor temperatures and set fan speeds. I recommend upping your fan speed, I don't trust the default profile to switch around. I leave it on 80%, which is inaudible in my room.

With FFXIV not being dual GPU friendly what is everyone's opinion on selling an ATI 5970 on eBay/craigslist and getting a GTX480?

To be honest I haven't looked around for a Crossfire fix. I imagine there is one or it's at least possible considering the nVidia users were able to fix their own problem. I would first do some research to see if there is a workaround to get crossfire working.

Yes I did, my cards are running at 702/1598/1288. That's Core/Shader/Memory Clocks. It's a very modest OC and should work for nearly all GTX 285's. Not every GPU is equal though, some are better than others and can overclock to greater amounts. But like I said this is a bare minimum OC that most every card should be able to handle. The heat isn't that bad either, while playing FF14 both cards get to the mid 70's which is perfectly acceptable for an SLI setup.

5970 work excellent but since it has two GPU's, it uses crossfireX to run properly. FFXI seems to run ok with crossfire now but it runs way better with the ATI crossfireX fix found Here.

It doesn't matter where you put it, just someplace you can remember where to find it. The goal is to export the profile, open it in notepad and edit it, save the file, then use the SLI tool to import the updated .txt file.
