Are most of you guys using a controller or keyboard, and which one do you find more comfortable? Sorry if this has already been posted. Thanks

When you go to buy food, do you ask other people in the store what to buy, aswell?

As it stands, I am mostly using a controller. Enabling use of the controller while FFXIV is in the background makes browsing the forums on my second monitor a breeeeeeze!

... BOTH!

Seriously love the controller for gathering & aimless running around.

Love the keyboard/mouse for battle, much faster response time for me.

So until they give me my XI keyboard with arrow keys back, both.

im using the gamepad, its much easier to move and direct the camera. However, you will need to use the macros for battle. It is very easy once you have the macros down. The manual will show how to map the gamepad.

OP I prefer keyboard. Always have.

Quote: You can set up macros with /aoe on and /aoe off switches then the spell so most of your spells will do what you want most of the time. or just thois switches on diff buttons to turn them off. I found that putting cures and whatnot on /aoe on and spells on /aoe off was the best for my soloing.

I use a PS2 controller, I've got a little USB converter that lets me plug it in. This is what I used for years in FFXI as well and I've always thought it's the best. I have my gamepad now configuring 100% like FFXI as well, so everything was very familiar when first starting out.

try both. I used keyboard in FF11 for a long time especially since I started when the pc version released. It wasn't till a years or so ago I tried to play with Gamepad with macro setups.

I loved it. I could play on my TV and for hours. The argument might be how quickly the keyboard is over the controller. And I will say that using both that the keyboard is faster. However I felt more comfortable using the gamepad. I still used keyboard for shell/tells.

In FFXIV during OB I used gamepad the entire time. And for me it's better since the control scheme is different this time around. I liked not having to use a mouse in FF11. but that seems to have changed.

So I would say use both. If you like comfort. you might not be able to pull macros off quicker but it's never really been a problem for me.
