When I first installed FFXIV on this computer it opened and worked fine. I downloaded the updates on another computer and transferred them to this computer. Both computers logged into FFXIV.

Yesterday I tried to log into FFXIV on this computer and I got the following error message:

"11024 Version check timed out. Please try again later.(3:20455,10009,10019)"

Since then I've tried everything I can think of to log in and I cannot get it to work.

  • Yes, I've tried when the servers are actually up
  • This computer runs other online games from Starcraft 2, FFXI, WoW, TF2, Minecraft, etc with no problem
  • I tried deleting my entire downloads folder
  • I manually downloaded the updates again and transferred them to the correct paths
  • I tried deleting vercheck.dat
  • I tried adding the filepath to downloaded_boot_patch.list
  • I ran CCleaner
  • One time I did get the error "11014 Version check failed" but when I tried again I got the 11024 error again and have since
  • The port settings are correct

Any help would be *GREATLY* appreciated as I would love to be able to play FFXIV on this computer. I've asked for help at FFXIVCore and got nothing and I can find nothing on this anywhere else.

Change the game.ver and boot.ver files so they have an identical version number. Make sure the version number is the latest. Also, always back up these files before changing them.

Where are those located?

I'm looking in "C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\" and all the subfolders but don't see a game.ver and boot.ver.

Also, do you know what the current version is?

Nevermind, found them.

  • game.ver is 2010.09.19.0000
  • boot.ver is 2010.09.18.0000

Now that I think of it I'm not sure if those two patches have been applied when I ran the game the first time...

Did you uninstall the Open beta client and clean it out prior to installing the CE?

I think so...I know I uninstalled it on at least one computer... >_<

On my programs list I don't see it at least. I guess I can try uninstalling, cleaning the registry and then reinstalling.

Actually, just realized why I didn't remember uninstalling the open beta on this computer because I did not install the open beta on this computer.

I know this may sound odd, but it is all I have left. Create a new windows user administrator/account and copy the files over and see if it runs.

Or right click on the .exe and "run as administrator."

Close Peerblock/guardian if you have it running. It will cause this problem to occur. Tried to just click on the blocked IPs and select "allow permanently" but it seems SE uses dynamic IPs with their update patch (or a ****-ton of servers, I tried selecting over 20 before giving up). A good idea to check your firewalls as well if you have any.

I started getting the "11014 Version check failed" error on september 28th and i still can't login. I tried emailing FF14 tech support and they just sent me the same "possible" solutions the website had. Obvious things like "check your connection"... I played the game just fine for a week and without changing anything, it doesn't work anymore. I sent back the email asking for more help and i'm crossing my fingers it will lead to something. If any of you has the solution, i would also appreciate it.

Edit: Also, concerning TheWix's post, are you absolutely sure it works? if so, could you explain more in details for those you are less skilled with computers?

Hey I had to do a factory windows reinstall yesterday to finally get over this problem.

I think this error has to do with corrupt system files. I d/l'ed a 11034 Windows Error check program and ran it to find out I had 150 some corrupt files. I didn't feel like spending $29.99 to buy the actual program to have it fix them all. So I just did another (first one having to do with the "FFXIV has stopped working" error) windows reinstall to lose the corrupt files. I've seen people saying it's caused from not having files sent to your "My Games" folder but I think it was my corrupt files causing it to not send those files there. But I don't know for sure. However, I finally got the retail working... what a relief.

after 14 days of getting copy/paste emails from SE, i got this email:
Quote:

Dear Customer,

Regarding your request for technical support. Please find your answer below.

If you are receiving 11014 Version check failed it could be a couple of issues. Please try the following,
Please check the C: drive an ensure there is at least 6gb of free space. The version updater does download to this drive and if there is insufficient space it will cause an error.
It is also possible that there was a corrupted update file downloaded. Please try navigating to this folder My Documents -> My Games -> FINAL FANTASY XIV then Delete the "downloads" folder.

Thank you for contacting the SQUARE ENIX Support Center.

Deleting the folder worked.

Hello everyone,

I would greatly appreciate any advice on solving the following problem I am about to desricbe. When I try to load FF14 after instal and patch download I get several different error messages when trying to access the game. One message is: 11014 version check failed (2:20452,20451) I am guessing those are ports that failed? Another message is: 11024 version check timed out. Please try again later. (3:20455,10009,10019) information you should know before offering me advice: I live in China, I own a NA copy ordered from online, I have an American address registered account through SE from my old house in Texas. I tried deleting the downloads folder through: My documents>My games>FF14> still no solution. I know people in China can access and play the game from what I have read above from the user Aiwen. Please help. miles_hamblen@live.com

Hey, are you playing from an unsupported region? Possibly Asia? If so, you need to proxy and climb over the "firewall". Get a VPN and connect to a US or *** ip, it should be fine afterwards. If you have questions PM me here I will try to help the best I can.
