there is a market ward search coming in the next major patch. do we really need to beat that horse some more? The patch is coming in 2 - 3 weeks tops.

Oh is this horse already dead? For some reason I don't think it is. If the search function for wards works anything like an AH, players will be happy with that, but if it is still limited to the retainers in a single ward room, that will still be time consuming and strange. But if this horse is really dead, how about being able to run while looking at other players bazaars? Can we petition that yet? D:

i personally think Eve Online has one of the best market systems ive ever used. bit of power to both the buyer and seller. you can list to sell something and wait for someoen to buy it or list to buy something wait till someone sells it.

OMFG get over it. there isnt one. there wont be one. Its the best thing that ever happened to the game, for people who played MMO's pre FFXI/WoW understand why at the least. Now you can barter, now you can find deals, now you can hinder cgf, now YOU have to spend some of your oh so precious time doing something besides racing for 50 to swing around your epeen to actually shop, kinda like irl. Dont worry, the other fokls that you think care about being higher lvl than you, they have to stop xp'ing to go shop too.

No one is forcing you to check around the bazaar for gear, the cgf dont do it =p inspect one, theyre like 30 in lvl 1 gear =p

So, first off I'd like to say if this has been mentioned or brought up before then OOps. I wasn't about to search all the threads containing Rants/ideas/hopes on AHs, I'd be here all night.

Ok, so I was thinking on how to improve the AH and/or ward setup and here's what I came up with.

What if,

-SE implemented an AH but only allowed Weapons/gears/food/potions to be sold on it.
-Got rid of the Battleward(where everyone spams everything)/magicward/and other wards
that wouldn't be needed anymore.
-Only allowed raw items/parts to be sold in wards. (everyone will then be in their
respective ward because where else will they go?)
-Only allowed players to sell 5 items tops in AHs?
-Make sure the 3 AHs were not connected. (this would help to really feel the pinch as to
what guilds are in what city and to decrease AH counts, we wouldn't want 100s of
Bronze haubys)
-Almost all crafts will be able to participate in the AHs + wards.
-Maybe add an incentive to keep AH prices steady/high (Add a points system kinda like the
classes, the more you're able to increase a price the more points you get. The more
points you get, a benchmark(s) can be reached making you able to sell 1 more item at a
time? Crafters should be able to benefit from an AH as well as other classes.)
-Wards would improve as far as materials being in the right wards.
-Maybe if you have items in the AH then the less items your retainer can sell in his
bazaar? (to keep things fair)
-Add a Ores/BSM parts ward, Plates/ARM parts ward, Logs/Carpenter parts ward, etc. (maybe
to lessen the confussion, if there is any, about where to place items in wards)

But regardless, this game needs a BIG overhaul as to how things are sold and bought. I'm not sure if a simple search function will work by itself. Will we need all the different wards then? Feel free to tell me what you thing of this idea.

Chow

Bad Idea imo. not to flame you or anything. but all you'd get is people getting there friends to buy there 10k item for a million gils to scam a ton of points so they could list more stuff at once

one of the biggest failings of ffxis ah was the limit on how much you could sell. which ultimately saw huge amounts of potential resources go to waste. number of times id have difficulty with a craft cos noone bothered to put the mats on ah cos they use there slots for the more valuable stuff. guilty myself to. a number of times id come out of a merit party and simply npc 3-4 stacks of lolibri feathers cos they werent as valuable as other items id gotten.

The best thing that ever happened to the game? Yeah, right.

Look, bartering and finding deals is great, but not when you're forced to spend like 30-45 minutes doing so. I play Final Fantasy 14 to go on adventures, level up my character, and have fun. I shop for hours with my mother, and it's **** to go through. You think I want to go through that kind of crap while playing a freakin video game?

It's really not like people who aren't shopping are trying to lvl to 50 fast, so I don't know why you would go there. People play mmorpgs to have fun, fight epic battles, and hang out with friends and guildies. You NEED gear and crafting to get by in this game, so why make it hard to get your hands on what you need?

All the bazaar in FF14 does is frustrate people, and that is the last thing you want. Because it lays the ground work for gold farmers and item and gil sellers to come in. Who's going to want to spend hours walking from person to person inspecting their wares one at a time and trying to find the right equipment you need? And it's even more of a nightmare since it takes these retainers a millenium to even load on the screen, and another millenium to load the list of things they're selling. Now, going through that over and over and over does NOT sound like fun. (And no, it's not.) And gil sellers know this. So they will be more than happy to grind and grind and grind to make enough gil to sell to people to buy what they want. And there you have it. A broken shopping network has led to a broken economy.

Sorry but I have been a gamer for over 24 years now! This is a bad idea with retainers. I appreciate SE trying to find something new but this really does suck. Even when they have the search function it will still be a pain in the back side. Like I said before in other posts I pay to play ( eventually thst is ^^ ). I dont want to spend hours searching for an item.

As for battering! Well! I not seen any of that either! AH's are the hub of a game, its convenient, fast, great meeting place ect. I played Aion and surprise surprise they have AH! and it works there as it has in other games.

As for bazaars if i want to choose to click on them , then that's my choice to do that. and thats only if I am waiting for a group party ect.

Any of u ever played UO ( that's Ultima on line ) very old game now :) well, there u had player housing. and u could buy npcs to sell your items at your house. so the bigger house u had the more npc's u could have selling your items. ( there were no AH ) My goodness I spent more time shopping then I did leving up and grouping. That was a big let down for me and other players, we stuck with the game though, because the content ( at that time ) was good.

Why can there not be retainers and AH? U look out side of Jeuno Rolenberry and u will see masses of bazaars. People still managed to sell stuff out side there, and on AH!

At the end of the day you cant please everyone some want an AH and some dont. But for me 100% AH

Likely because Black Ops is not an mmorpg in which you level up and need new gear and weapons according to your level as you do so. Also, you don't craft in Black Ops, nor do you need money to buy things in order to progress.

Unless, of course, you were trying to be sarcastic with your statement. And if that was the case, it was pretty weak and poorly thought out.

Really!? You need money to buy armor and weapons in Black Ops!?!?

Whoa, I did fail. Miserably, lol. My apologies. But seriously, that sounds like a terribad idea in a shooter. A great idea for an mmorpg, but not for an FPS. Glad I found out about it before I bought the game.

So I did another round of lightning fast megashopping in XI (eat that retainers) and this thought occurred to me:

SE has stated that one of the reasons why they didn't include an AH was that it drives prices to plunge as other players undercut their prices.

WHAT in lord's name does that mean really!?

Prices go down sure but they're mostly always still controlled by quantity and demand. The value of money will be what players automatically make of it.

Is there something I'm not understanding here?

Anyone who has played XI even for a week knows that you're never ever EVER feeling bad that something is so cheap as most players are always in need of more gil.

Really? Undercutting is their reason for creating the hot mess they call the retainer market?

Undercutting happens. In games, and real in life. What you find cheap at Best Buy you will likely find cheaper at Walmart, then likely to find it cheaper still on ebay...

Sellers are always trying to beat other sellers for currency. How is this a bad thing? Buyers and sellers competing for the best deals and best sales. It's called an ECONOMY. Someone should tell the FFXIV devs to look that word up. I hope they change their tune soon enough. Or people are going to wind up playing other games before they can rectify the already done damage soon enough.

I still dont understand why we dont have an AH. I was always dead against retainers.
Even wth the new search function, u still have to go and click on all the retainers( with a star ) to find the item.Hopeless!

So any way I thought I would get my own re-tainer and sell some items, great I go back to the ward my retainer was in, and heeeyy It's gone. This is not the first time it as happened to my retainer not being there, and that's not because all items had been sold.
Its just vanishes. Heellloooo retainer? where are you! <<< Sarcasam if u missed the point.

Oh yes, and I do like to get my items sold asp, so then I have to go and click on retainers to find out how much they are selling there goods for. ( takes forever)

It does suck tbh. Can we not have a poll for who wants an AH?

ok to everone QQing over this AH we dont need one SE just need to make the Item finder to work LIKE a AH.. Keep the Markat/Shops just make the Finder work better.. If they just make that more like lets say this.. You looking up a Weap for Lv10- You go to the battleroom list you see that there are 2 being sold ( but at the same time there may be 5 more being sold in lats say the Aromrroom but you cant see that bc all the list show you is the ons in the Battleroom list) they need to make it so that when you pike that item it tell you How many (in all) and what room its in.. So you can see were there being sold at if someone is selling it in a diff room... Over all i love it this way.. it something NEW to the old school ways & and sometime we need it.
