I reactivated my account yesterday at noon, it says on SE

http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/news/detail?newsId=dea498d1cf1e5bd0d3bacc3c76d8d40014c73f73

that I need to wait about a day for the item to become available.

Confirmed, my character doesn't have it. But will it just appear in my inventory, or will I have to actually remake the character once it becomes available?

It will only be available on characters made after the shoes are available. I wouldn't reactivate for them though, you only get a 15 minute speed boost once every 24 hours.

Yeah but I'll just finish wotg's missions and cancel it again I suppose. Here's hoping SE doesn't take the shoes off my pocket if I cancel it...

Gah! So I'll have to wait for SE's system to catch up to me in order to play? God **** it. I'm getting so screwed out of my 8 days :/

I'm thinking about waiting until I get FFXIV CE from Best Buy, should be today (Best Buy sucks, I preordered it a month ago), then:

1) Activate FFXIV
2) link my old FFXI account to FFXIV
3) reactivate FFXI for only $7/month
4) Wait a day
5) Create a new character & get Hermes shoes
6) Cancel FFXI

People are bashing the whole 15 minutes/day thing for Hermes Shoes, but I think that's actually pretty good. A lot of them time I will only be able to play it for 1 hour on a particular day, so it means that 1/4 the time I play on those days I'll get a speed boost.

I'm just happy to get a nice limited edition item. What I'm wondering though is if SE will let us keep the item after canceling the account. Wish they would be more specific about ... well, everything.

15 minutes sounds more than enough to quest and gather crafting items if you play, say, 3 hours a day.
