I am really trying to understand how they can release an MMO in the year 2010 with no content. Now I really loved XI. One thing that made me really want to get to level 75 was when I first arrived in Konschat Highlands as a newb I saw this level 75 Paladin and this level 75 BLM killing Steelfleece. I was just in awe. I said to myself I want to get 75 so I could do that one day.

Now I'm playing XIV and I just have no desire what so ever to level. All there is to do is to do random guild leves which are limited and they have super long cool downs for a game lacking content. There's also the crafting jobs or mining etc... but my question is what's the point? I could work on this to get to cap but I have no incentive because like I said there's nothing else to do! Then there's that one quest per nation.... Seriously SE one quest to do in a RPG?!?!

Where's all the people who said "it's only beta" at now? At the rate they are making changes this game will be in beta for the first year or so.

Someone explain to me why did I just pay $80 for a game with no content?

So, you think when FFXI started that there were level 75's(technically 50s at the time) running around?

How do you know there is no thing awesome at 50?

Sounds like you should unsubscribe for a few months and come back when everyone else has done the adventuring for you and you can just be a follower(

I was just about to ask you the same thing. Why did you buy it? You knew what you were getting into.

this thread lol -facepalm-

I love how you're saying this games content sucks because you couldnt get an experience like the one you had in FFXI where you saw the level 75s killing stuff and that was an incentive for you.

Well I'm sorry but you must be somehow oblivious to that the game came out 2 days ago. everyone is still in the very low levels. just because you can't see level 75s running around doesnt mean there is no high level content.

no offense but are you retarded irl OP?

If you bothered to read them, the leves are quests. From different guilds around the city, and from what I've noticed they change every day so your one quest per day argument doesn't really fly.

FFXI only had one mission progression setup per city, I don't see how this is any different at all.

FFXI had pretty much no quests at relace as well (talking actual game releace, not when it came to NA.)

You've really only yourself to blame.

Besides, "content" does not mean just storyline. Levelquests, crafting, battle system, monster design, character design. All of this is encompased in 'content' and an MMO has massive quantities of it, most of which becomes developed after launch.

So go exploring, or quit, I don't really care which. Game releaces always come with a wash of people showing up with inflated expecations and exploding when they don't get everything they want at once.

What the OP is saying, he doesn't understand in this day and age of 2010. FFXI came out years ago, and he is saying that he expected more, 10 years later. I can see the point.

He expected SE to give you a capped toon at release and a manual with everything in it leaving nothing to ones own adventure/exploration?

Yeah, that sounds like a fun game.

Also, 5 bucks this is OP's sock, lol.

I sense it coming... only a matter of time. They had to get the game off the ground eventually. And since MMO's aren't every really DONE, I suspected they turned on the servers to continue to find bugs before they added complicated quest w/ buggy basic gameplay...

There's bugs in party play currently, but at least they're easily avoidable. We're really gonna have to just give this game a few months to mature about. I wouldn't fret about it yet. Let's give it until Christmas and see if we get a dope patch or two...

Resubbing later would probably be the best bet, by what you've described what you liked about FFXI. My desire to level in FFXI stemmed from wanting to see the BLM spells. So far, the beginning BLM spells in FFXI looked better. Hopefully the animations of the spells in FFXIV improve in the higher tiers.

nah I exspected more. I wanted to see people running around asking for help on missions or something. All I see is a bunch of people running around soloing random guild leves or crafting.

Actually, no he did not, he said this;
Quote:
I said to myself I want to get 75 so I could do that one day.

Are you really telling me the first time you saw a level 75 character (not toon gdi) in decked out gear it did not inspire you to work hard and get there eventually?

Quote:

His post was saying that now in FFXIV, he is dissapointed with the ammount of content, and he feels like there is no reason to level because he feels there is nothing to do.

There was nothing wrong with his reply, you basically said word for word what OP said. He thinks there is nothing to work forward to because he hasn't seen the fullest extent of what the game has to offer, he hasn't seen what he is working forward to because nobody has the best of the best yet. The game came out officially 2 days ago, there was stuff at the end of OB that I saw and instantly wanted to work up to, and that was what people achieved in a limited release in a couple of weeks. just imagine what you will look like/ be capable of in a year.

so when a monster hits you for 3,347 and you die instantly you dont say to yourself. **** i can't wait until i'm the one who is tanking that. Or you see a giant marlboro from the distance and say, only 15 more levels until my friends and I will work together to take that thing down. And these are just little things. We are all just little adventurers who have no idea what is in store for us. We'll either be killing dragons or taking out avatars from the sky! Rewatch the opening cinematic and rewrite a thread like this.

edit: I'll put some more perspective into this. Was valkurm dunes epic? **** no. wimpy little grabs that one shot you. Was even garliage cit epic? no! It wasn't until we were doing rank 6 missions, gaining access to airships and AF did the epicness start. The first umpteen levels were meh in FFXI and it's going to be the same here and you know, it was the same in WoW. The early levels in every single game suck. You kill the same mob over and over. It was that way all the way from EQ to today. But all of these games have epic end games, and ffxiv seems to have one of the best (albeit) hardest to understand endgame story. I'm pumped

Because you are impatient, anyone that wants a great MMO experience and has high expectations waits a year or so before starting. There is so much potential money lost on subs that they just release the game asap and worry about making it worth the money later on.

If you loved FFXI or WoW go play one of those for a year, come back to 14 after that if you are still interested and you will see a game with lots of content, stupid stuff removed, good stuff added(probably) and which has been beta-tested by the "i can't wait" brigade.

You only have yourself to blame for buying into a game at the start.

Meh, I understand the OPs complaint and I'm not too optimistic about the rate at which they'll add new content, but ultimately we just have to wait and see. If there isn't a really fun expansion in the coming months, I'll be canceling my subscription until there is one.

Mostly I am disappointed at the limited leve quests (also the lack of difficulty and general shortness in the early leves doesn't make the game look very good) and the limited party play.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

How dare there not be level capped players doing endgame content two days after release in a brand new MMORPG? This is absurd!

yeah early leaves are a joke, and so are the rank 10 leves, but if you are one of the many that attempted revenge of the dodo's by yourself, you got a quick lesson in what the color around the edges of guildleves means. That was only silver. This is still very early, things are going to get exponentially harder and will require more teamwork and higher levels / gear.
