UI / Widgets - how to customize (?)Follow

Sorry if you were looking for a wiki / guide / FAQ, but it's just a question: how to I move / customize my UI?

Some of it's movable (e.g. HP, MP, TP bars, enemy HP bar), some of it can be re-sized (e.g. chat window), but some of it can't be moved or resized at all (or I haven't figured it out yet).

Has anyone figured out how to shrink the size of the HUD map? It's really helpful, just not 10% of my screen area helpful.

And how about the four (4) little buttons down in the lower right hand corner (which are simply radial buttons for functionality already built into keyboard commands / game menus)? I can't move, re-size, or hide those four buttons at all.

Other annoying UI stuff includes, but is not limited to: NPC dialogue box, the floating "!" icons that show that I can interact with something, non-movable action bar / macro bars...none of which I can seem to move, re-resize, or hide.

[Help me out!][Thank you]

I haven't found a way to move any of that stuff, just the obvious things. As far as I can tell, you can't move them.

Hopefully they patch in the ability to at some point, because I really miss having my macros at the top of the screen like in FFXI, plus then I'd be able to use the lower part of the screen for the chat log, which atm is kind of cramped into the corner.

And as much as I'm liking this game so far, I'm still getting used to the whole action bar thing... I do wish I could resize and move it though, because I use a 360 pad, and the thing could be 20% of the current size without losing functionality. It's just kind of in the way.

I hate to derail my own thread.....but is it easy to just plug a PS3 / Xbox 360 controller into my PC / Laptop and play FFXIV? What kind of software / driver's, if any, do I need to make it work?

a wired 360 computer is plug and play for windows. There is an adapter for the wireless ones. However, the PS3 controller (or the Logitech ones) are the way to go since it's made for that type of controller...

Anyone give me a review of KB/Mouse as opposed to Gamepad controls...just think I'd find it hard on the pad!

The only thing that would really benefit you from using the keyboard instead of a controller is being able to press 1, 2, 3 and such without scrolling through your abilities. It's not a huge hassle to scroll through them though, but I use the keyboard because I like to type often. Otherwise a controller is a lot more convenient for FFXIV.

The only thing that really bothers me is the NPC dialogue box, i want to put the chat window there as it was in XI but NPC chat makes it indecipherable...

IMO, a combined use of KB+Mouse+gamepad is the way to go...combat is much better with a keyboard while almost everything else is better with gamepad

In response to OP, you can move all of the UI elements, move the cursor over them until it turns into an open hand, and then you can drag it where ever you want. I have only seen resize in chat as well.

As to derail. +1 to Gamepad + Mouse + Keyboard.

I'd like a way to figure out how to move the GuildLeve tracker.

I've gotten used to have my stats/mob stats in the upper left, but I can't get everything up there without the GuildLeve tracker sitting over it.

You can also resize your HP/MP/TP and stamina bars. The UI is pretty clean compared to a lot of other MMOs, mostly due to some aspects hiding themselves when not in use. I really do wish we could move EVERYTHING, though. Especially the little icons in the bottom right corner. That's where my HP/party/target information goes, you don't belong here silly menu icons!
