I love this game so far, the changes they made to crafting, the journal that ushered out XI's era of "Somewhere, someone-perhaps wearing pants- will give you your next cutscene, maybe" questing, the new job systems, the quest exp/rewards, etc. I could go on till I ran out of room to post.
That being said, how could something so right, have such terrible failures in key areas of the game design?
The first being the search tool. It is just awful. There really wasn't anyting wrong with XI's search interface. It was stellar, could have used a way to search on more than one job - but it was **** good. XIV's is incredibly useless at the present time. It was like SE took 10 steps backwards in the design. I just don't get it.
The second being my biggest gripe - no Auction House.
There is nothing more frustrating in this game, than trying to randomly search through 50 bazaars that aren't even all loaded on the screen, for the one item you may be looking for. It feels like someone rounded up all the bazaars in Upper Jeuno and threw them in a holding cell. It's awful. I can't imagine anyone on the dev team saw this in Beta and thought "This WAS a good idea". Coupled with the fact it takes a fair amount of time to set up your retainer bazaar, no one wants to waste time throwing low priced materials in their Bazaars, so good luck finding anything to make actual useful or sellable items. The stuff is all being NPCed, and who can blame anyone for doing that? It's more convenient, and you really don't have a lot of bazaar space on your retainer to waste on moku grass and dodo feathers.
The current system needs to be reworked, and if the AH mechanics are already in the game, then it needs to be unlocked.
