Hm...Well there was a male NPC that mentions "parley" in Gridania I believe (near markets...then again, I could be totally making that up, but there is an NPC somewhere). He says something to the effect that he uses parley to battle, or something, and I think he hints that you could someday join in. I wonder what would happen if you talked to him. I'll try and find him and screenshot/record it next time I'm online.

BTW, what level is the third questline?

Hmm, why don't you check your traits?
You know, click on a box in the trait area under your skills. See if it comes up in the list.

Parley isn't an ability - now I never got it myself but SE report said it was a "mini game" you play and wager items in return for better items or items you need - mainly caters to crafters to help them out in this case...so i don't think its gonna be an abilitiy.

Dude, who the **** knows. This is the only game where you have to scrounge the web for an answer as to what a skill does.

I think the question is whether or not parley is even in the game at this point, and if it is, how do you do it?

Lol trying to figure out where to go to buy something as simple as a starter weapon is not my idea of fun. Or having to go online to figure out what a skill does because SE failed to add in ANY information is NOT my idea of fun.

I understand the concept of figuring **** out and having fun because of it, but this is ridiculous. Walking around town trying to find a weapon vendor because they dont label ANYTHING. Because the map is nothing but some made-up-language-scribbles. This is the opposite of fun.

And not to mention the UI lag and the time it sucks up talking to every npc you come across. If the UI was crisp and responsive, it wouldn't be nearly as big of a problem as it is now. But its such a god **** long process just to select someone and click an option.

not my idea of fun.

They do label vendors. They all have signs.

Every time I see that word I think of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Savvy?

As to the online scavenger hunt, you know what I found out is pretty handy for bypassing all that stuff when it comes to skills and abilities? I read the tooltips in game. Have yet to encounter a trait, ability, or action that doesn't tell you exactly what it does when you mouse over it.

So i found the Parley NPC, i won a bunch but i didn't get any items or gil. Not to sure what this does for your Char. So if anyone has gotten anything for it let me know.

The npc is a kitty Far east in UL'Dah. so basically the upper right map.

Can you take some screenshots of what it looks like? Is it the tile based game they mentioned? I heard someone in another topic mention there's only one NPC or something in the game right now...My guess is this is either another super secret addition to the game locked away in some story quests we've yet to unlock, or it's just another half-implemented game mechanic.

Also, here's another NPC mentioning parley I found.

Parley looks pretty stupid. Want to win a Bronze Gladius? You need a Bronze Gladius to bet. Orange juice for Orange juice, Copper buckle for Copper buckle. Tiger Cod for Tiger Cod.

Those are the Limsa Parley NPC items btw.

off topic but not sure how to ADD pic tried a couple times but it didn't work.

So parley is a matching game, its like tic tac toe but only north south. Each item has a # to it. every time you pick an item, same with npc the items move so you get different combos. It's kinda hard to explain but it is actually simple. I'll get screen shots up after maintenance

A vidya for those interested...I really hope there's more to this. I don't see any strategy to this minigame at all. You click the highest combination and then the board gets filled seemingly random. What strategy is there? The only strategy I could possibly see is attempting to block the opponent from large points...but as you can see, the NPC in the tutorial is pretty freaking stupid, so that didn't even matter.

It's so terribly complicated to look at the map and find the icon of the guild your looking to join or to find the local npc market amirite?
