Okay, before you ask no I did not search for anything on this forum, whether or not this has been posted yet before I really dont know.

So let me get to the point, Ive done all the quests I can, Ive grinded until exp has hit minimum, levequests/guildleves are on cooldown...

What the heck do I do now?

Did I really waste all that money to upgrade my computer for this game to run out of things to do this early in the release? :(
To top it all off, no auction house, misleading enemy-con system (color bubbles, red blue green etc). The games graphics look amazing, but Im really sad here. I was expecting so much more gameplay not "lol sry bro, you gotta wait til next week to do anything!"

Am I the only one saddened by this as it stands?

OH AND USING LEVEL 1 GEAR FOREVER IS AWESOME TY SE!

Let me clarify, I am leveling a pugilist, currently I dabble in fishing. However its gotten to the point where I cannot continue with those two things, which happen to be the two things I like doing.

also, in b4 tough cookies.

So what you're suggesting is to simply exp grind after exhausting quest lines and faction content?

Wow, that sounds awesome. *rolls eyes*

Sounds like another mindless grind MMO -- something I'd thought was left behind in the wake of next-gen mmos showing that you can make dynamic content games without the senseless time sink known as grinding.

Now, don't take this the wrong way, but it seems to me like you're waiting for someone to teach you how to play the game.

You know who is going to get hit the hardest by the surplus xp system? People who just want to blast one class to the cap. That's it. If you're working on other classes, chances are pretty good you'd have to be unemployed and playing from the time you wake up until you fall asleep at your keyboard to hit surplus.

There's tons of information available regarding what the devs intended for the game in terms of how you'd go about progressing your character. I've been binging on XIV since I got it installed on the 22nd and I'm nowhere near surplus. I don't have any classes beyond rank 10. I have very little gil, but I've got a retainer overflowing with crafting materials that I started blasting my way through today and I'm having all kinds of fun. And when it comes time to hit the field to smash some unsuspecting critters, my character is turning into a low level juggernaut on account of all the little goodies I've picked up from one class or another, and I've barely even touched my main class.

And when it comes to gear, I'm setting myself up to have that taken care of, too. I'm not in a rush. The game is 3 days old. The standard edition service hasn't even begun yet. I'm still bombing around in all starter gear, and have no intention to upgrade any of it until I get down to business with my Gladiator because the repair bills aren't worth it. The gear I've got is suiting me just fine and when it starts to break down, I sell a bunch of items I won't use for crafting to an NPC and get it repaired. Guildleves reset this evening some time and I haven't even browsed which ones are available because I was too busy with other things.

You're rushing and you're paying the price for it. Slow down and take advantage of the full scope of what the game has to offer. Trust me, you'll realize very quickly that there's anything but a shortage of things to do.

I honestly don't mind grinding. The thing that gets me is that they made it so casual players can get just as much done as a player with more time on their hands. However they also made it so that they actually punish people who have more time by limiting what they can do.

I get the feeling the majority of people complaining they have ran out of things to do are the people spending a lot of time in game each day.

I only get the chance to play for a few hours each day and have PLENTY of stuff to do. In fact, im struggling to fit it all in atm. I do feel for you guys though, this game does seem more tailored to the casual player.

Just think of the money you spent as a much needed upgrade. You are going to play more games than this on your PC right? Content will be added as the game goes through it's lifespan. It can only get better from here.

Actually they benefit. Because they have more time to level more classes and learn more skills. So that when endgame comes there is a better chance they can fit a role needed. Whereas someone who doesn't have much time and couldn't level many classes is more limited.

I'm not going to lie, I apparently did not do my research on this enough. I didn't know that abilities transfered through classes, so I've been playing nothing but pugilist because I figured one class was the way to go...

All right guys, you've got me.
And seriously thank you for that information. lol

(I'd still like an auction house)

Don't solo levequest. SE even said 8 isn't enough for a solo player. Save them for groups. I joined a group and we played for about 2-3 hours together. We did 4 level 1 levequests, and then we moved to lvl 10 levequests and three of us did all our leves we had for that area (3 a piece). We still had plenty of leves to use.

Everyone knew how the game was from the ranting over beta, if you still bought final after that and are now complaining you are a ******. You knew it was gonna be terrible.

I guess what I'll do is play Aion while I wait for the cooldown. I'm going to give this game a chance. But ya, you have to subscribe to two games. BTW, can anyone tell me what the point of this game is? I mean, what is the purpose? I'm working on leveling stuff but for what end result?

What is the purpose of progressing a character in any MMO? Is it about the destination, or the journey?

srsly though if you didn't know you can use abilities from other classes on your main class means you did hardly any research before you pre-ordered the game. That's pretty much the most basic thing about the game. From what i've seen leveling 1 main class 2 off classes to get the abilities you want at higher levels and 2 crafts pretty much takes up as much time as you want it to. Just gotta find your niche.

You have no idea what end-game will be like. None of us do.

If you've put as much time as you claim, surely you have a large sum of cash by now. I havent "capped" any class yet and I am wearing a full set of 10-20 armor/weapon with another half set for a diff class ready. Retainer dungeons are annoying, but a quick browse only viewing the descriptive retainers or shallower floors (2nd or 3rd) will yield you plenty of good gear opportunities.

(yes we need ah, or at least a search)

Curious, what are the reward gains for doing them in a PT?

The ability to complete leves on a harder difficulty, which means more XP (and I assume higher chance to gain skill points) from enemies.

I also saw higher chance for ksill ups as a noted bonus.

Took a group of 6 13-15's earlier and we did group difficulty lv20 leve quests, that was fun and our conjurer got 720 skill points form one enemy once...that was while healing too >.>

I'm just casually playing a couple hours a day, plenty to do that way, taking up a couple jobs, couple crafts/gatherings. It's sad that people need to just rush through everything, and play 10 hours a day. Level up something to coincide with pug and your fishing, combine a few crafts to be able to supply yourself with certain pieces of gear. Team up with other people on their leves, and if not, reduce your playtime for awhile.

^^^ THIS

You CANNOT do this. The game is not designed to have players do this. The whole point of FFXIV is that you combine skills and spells from different classes to create a unique character.. Go play conjurer for a while, get the "CURE" spell and then use it to heal yourself between battles while you're a pugalist.
