ff111 was way better than ff14Follow

Having played FFXI since the beta there are some things I'm confused how SE messed up.

I really think even the basic things FFXI during beta worked whereas FFXIV doesn't have it all. Ctrl+r mostly doesn't work (some people say it does, other doesn't). Able to tell where your friends on friendlist and linkshells are. F key targeting party members and NPCs. IJKL camera keys? - wtf? Can't change chat modes. Can't change font colors?

Really just simple things like that is bugging the **** out of me. I know after a while longer I can work the controls. Not being able to completely re-map the keyboard even though there's a keyboard menu is fail in my book. **** I think the game doesn't make use of SLI-ed geforce 460's well either. I just find it weird how SE got it the first time and dropped it 2nd time.

Its little things like that that is really adding up and making me not enjoy the game as much as I would've. It is a completely different animal though so like everyone said its still too early to pass complete judgement. So far despite the new content it still feels like a unfinished game.

i guess you're the RTS player that doesnt micromanage and lets his army get squashed because he likes to see them shoot. also units have abilities that need to be pressed so you are in fact manually fighting with them.

focus firing, hiting abilities, attack moving, kiting, retreating, positioning to get surround, drawing enemy into ambushes.

yep, but RTS doesnt make you manually fight with your units. its all automatic. right

In an auto-attack system it's not all automatic either.

I do not support having an auto-attack in FFXIV.

The point of FFXIV's system being different is just that. SE wanted to make something different, and so they did. If you don't like it go play one of the bazillion autoattack MMORPGs out there.
Like FFXI? lol

Being different for the sake of being different is retarded. Being different for the sake of being better is admirable.

Introducing my brand new car, the 2011 Ultra Awesomemobile! Features include:

- Five wheels instead of four.
- Triangle shaped wheels.
- An 8 track player instead of an MP3 player/CD player.
- Airbags -IN- the seats instead of in front of them.
- High beams are behind the vehicle in addition to in front.
- Car only has one door, in the rear of the vehicle.
- Driver's seat is also in the rear, placed conveniently next to the door.
- Voice activated breaking. Simply yell "DU WERDEST EINE KRANKENSCHWESTER BRAUCHEN!" to stop.
- To make driving more exciting, the car will include a button that you can press to speed up. The button is located on the roof of the car.

It's different! Different is better, right? We wouldn't want this car to be like those OTHER cars.

Mikhalia: and FWIW, my posts are 95% helpful, informative, or funny.
Mikhalia: only 5% or less of my posts are utter crap.
Tyapex: 393 posts of utter crap...
Mikhalia: Sounds about right.

I view it as an opportunity to let other players do all the hard work while I wait till PS3 launch.
I'm kind of a lazy douche like that though.

I lol'd and rated that up, I have 2 friends doing the same things, but they think
they are gonna get free gear and gil . . .

Little do they know ha

I would welcome autoattack like my own child. I'm getting sick of button mashing, and the fact that typing mid combat makes attacking impossible simultaneously.

I was all for auto-attack up until I read this. Why should talking and combat be done at the same time? Could that possibly be any less immersive? You're fighting a deadly creature while talking about how your mother always forgets to put three oreo cookies in your lunch box. Suddenly auto attack doesn't seem so necessary.

I have no idea why you think JRPG's can't have action in them. Guess you've only played a few?

So you're telling me that it is not possible for me to punch you in the face and simultaneously call you an idiot?

Think about endgame combat. Fights will be long, and people NEED to be able to communicate during them. Think back to XI. Sleep duty, stun rotations, telling backup tanks when to grab the mob off of you, announcing when shadows are down... how are people expected to communicate if they can't talk and fight? Voice chat? What about people who don't speak English? What about PS3 players? Do you feel that console players should get the shaft AND people of different languages should not be able to enjoy endgame content together, all because there is no autoattack?

lol, that was all fun and games. Auto attack for just the basic attack would be nice.
IMO though i am enjoying this game combat even with no auto attack. I quite like it.

as for communicating in this gaming age vent for pc players is a must
and those on PS3 can communicate via ingame voice chat.
XIV would be insane not to have that feature.

NOW SE if they had half a brain would build in an in game voice chat feature alla
SC2. You invite ls members into the chat channel and have one centralized means to
communicate . . . .

That would really elevate this game

Lol @ SE learning from their mistakes ever. Although I really want to meet the R and D guy who thought that the UI choices they made where a good idea. "50 million menus players have to cycle through to do anything, brilliant! Clumsy keyboard controls, players will love it!"

I see so many people on here saying that they really want to like this game and I agree so so much. I could deal with just simple content issues because as many have said, the game just launched. But what really kills the whole experience for me is how much of a pain it is to actually interact with the game. And I don't really think they'll ever fix that sadly :(

I like xiv alot more than xi and xiv has only been out a week. The thing about mmos is that stuff will constantly be added so its partly to be expected anyways.
