I Love My Security Token, But...Follow

Am I the only one EVER SO SLIGHTLY afraid of *losing* it lol? Like, I know myself and I'm kinda of forgetful... kind of clumsy... plus I have every factor in life working against me: I still live at home, and my mother is a clean freak and constantly rearranges sh*t. My younger brother is autistic and has this thing where he likes to pick up little objects... and then I'm just clumsy and forgetful by myself lol.

Anybody else feel like that about their security token? I can't be the only one... I'd put it on my key ring but I tend to misplace those once a month it seems... and if I loss my keys while out & about I'd cry. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to keep up with it.

Anybody wanna give their secrets to NOT losing their SE token? (yes it's a real question and I'm genuinely curious lol)

I feel the same. I am really close in removing it all together. At least for my StarCraft 2 Battle.Net account I can use the Authenticator on my phone, so I know I won't lose it. Would be cool if Square-Enix would provide one for Android/iPhone so I wont worry about losing this silly thing.

Peirce your ear and wear it on there, you'll never lose it then.

I actually have mine attached to my desk using a "*****-clip" which holds it securely in place.

Mine's been on a lanyard around the base of my monitor forever.

If you never plan on playing away from home, you could always tie a string on the base of your monitor and attach it there. You could put it on your keychain, if you don't mind ALWAYS carrying it around with you.

I always leave mine right under my monitor.

I've got four huge keychains attached to mine, and it helps that I usually keep my desk clean anyway. Except for this week since I'm FFXIVlazy. >.>

It's sitting right under my monitor right now. I like the lanyard idea, though. I don't plan on playing from anywhere else.

No desk I could lock it in... but I REALLY like the lanyard idea! IDK why I never thought of that lol. Mines just sits under my monitor but I just feel like plenty of things could happen (especially when living w/ multiple people) that could cause me to come home one day and find it missing. Attaching it to my desk/monitor would make me feel A LOT safer. I knew posting here would be a good idea. Thanks for all the tips!

Depending on what type of PC you've got there's a few options but personally I'd recommend something like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811998076&

It's a drawer that attaches in an empty drive bay. If you don't wanna spend the cash for something like that you could skip that option and always store it on the front door (Some PC cases have a detachable door that covers the drives in the front.) by attaching it somewhere. Or if you're truly worried and willing to go the extra steps, remove the side panel and store the token at the bottom of your PC case. If there's an empty drive bay above your DVD drive you could also remove that and store it up there, whichever is easier. Just a few suggestions on keeping your token safe and away from being thrown out or picked up by little brothers.

I was really afraid I would lose mine at first too. But since I use it so often, I've never lost it. And I've moved to a different state and then rearranged furniture in my house that included moving my desk since I got it. I attached a little keychain to it to make it a little bigger and harder to lose. Then, I just have a particular place in a desk drawer I keep it, and make sure to return it there every time.

The other thing I did is I have a 3x5 index card where I wrote down SE and POL user names and passwords; I also wrote down two numbers from my security token there without using them. That way, if it suddenly dies or I completely lose it, I have one number to get me into my account to cancel the use of it and one to get me into the game once. (I did this while committed to several end-game scheduled events in FFXI.)

This wouldn't actually work. The token code changes ever 60 seconds and is synced with your account through account management software that changes every minute with the token. So no code is ever 'unused'. The code generated on the token is exactly the same as the code generated by the account software in those 60 seconds... so you pressed the button say a week ago, never inputted that code but wrote it down. The token/account generator will never recognize that you didn't 'use' it. by pressing the button you used it.

So don't lose the token :P
