Where is the benefit to partying? At physical level 20 grouping feels slow, inefficient, and frustrating outside of levequests (which are generally better off solo'ed for maximum exp anyway).
Where are the exp parties?
Where are the skill chains? Battle regimens are poorly implemented, cumbersome, and generally useless.
Why does this game feel like leveling is a minigame and an after thought? I don't want to craft 24/7.
The exp system needs a serious overhaul. Skill gains are too random in a group and this only encourages solo play. I love the levequest system for casual players, but as a hardcore player I want there to be a benefit to forming a solid efficient group. I want grinding as a party to feel fun and rewarding. Currently grinding is a chore and my friends and I can't stomach it for more than 30 minutes before one of us decides to go back to crafting or exploring.
I really feel after only a few short days we are already getting over the crafting system and the rest of the game is coming up extremely flawed. The first "dungeons" are intended for level 30 and even then I am sure they are just an underground cave system filled with a hundred of the exact same mob. Where is the diversity? FF14 is that beautiful dumb blonde that you've been lusting after for a year and when you finally get to talk to her you can't stand to be around her. Everything about her just oozes stupidity and wasted potential.
So much potential is being wasted here and it is driving me nuts. I want to play this game, I want to enjoy it, and I want it to succeed. But the more that I play it the more that I realize Square Enix lost their FF11 identity. The clock is now ticking for myself and my friends and I'd be surprised if we last another week after waiting over a year for FF14 to be released.
