Where is the benefit to partying? At physical level 20 grouping feels slow, inefficient, and frustrating outside of levequests (which are generally better off solo'ed for maximum exp anyway).

Where are the exp parties?
Where are the skill chains? Battle regimens are poorly implemented, cumbersome, and generally useless.
Why does this game feel like leveling is a minigame and an after thought? I don't want to craft 24/7.

The exp system needs a serious overhaul. Skill gains are too random in a group and this only encourages solo play. I love the levequest system for casual players, but as a hardcore player I want there to be a benefit to forming a solid efficient group. I want grinding as a party to feel fun and rewarding. Currently grinding is a chore and my friends and I can't stomach it for more than 30 minutes before one of us decides to go back to crafting or exploring.

I really feel after only a few short days we are already getting over the crafting system and the rest of the game is coming up extremely flawed. The first "dungeons" are intended for level 30 and even then I am sure they are just an underground cave system filled with a hundred of the exact same mob. Where is the diversity? FF14 is that beautiful dumb blonde that you've been lusting after for a year and when you finally get to talk to her you can't stand to be around her. Everything about her just oozes stupidity and wasted potential.

So much potential is being wasted here and it is driving me nuts. I want to play this game, I want to enjoy it, and I want it to succeed. But the more that I play it the more that I realize Square Enix lost their FF11 identity. The clock is now ticking for myself and my friends and I'd be surprised if we last another week after waiting over a year for FF14 to be released.

I shout for LFG party all the time but its dead silence 24/7 in this game. I am on Selbina, THE FFXI server yet the FFXI community doesnt seem to be there.

I'd say your average player is between physical level 7 and 15 right now, and no job level above 15, either. If you're above that, you're out of luck right now because there's not a whole lot of people around your level. Unfortunately for many people, square decided to make this a more slow paced MMO than a fast one, like WoW, and there is no end game right now anyway.

Did either of you read my post? I'm not talking about the frequency of parties. I am talking about the benefit, or lack thereof, to partying. What part of MMO did Square Enix miss? This is a MSORPG (massive singleplayer online rpg). You are penalized for grouping currently due to an awful exp system.

I agree OP I don't like the skillup system and I wish they would just go back to xp pools - keep physical level and class "level" separate but the skillup thing is stupid imo and completely kills the need for partying unless there is a magic genie somewhere to tell us where and how to do it.

Omg, don't even tell me this, i sorta expected it, but was hoping something would materialize in later levels. I truly do not understand this game at all.

i find myself a physical level of 12, 2 classes a level 9 and a few are 5. im not understanding why i feel so trapped in the blackshroud area. i cant even fight mobs around the next crystals yet. i did my alotted amount of leves. i tried to craft but dont really understand the recipes. i managed to repair a weapon. i never really crafted in FF11 anyways. i feel the lack of openness is definately showing. i cant even explore the nearest cave. im liking it and hating it. but to be honest im wondering when the exp penalties thing is going to happen, i played at least 16hrs+ the last 2 days. today i tring to level my bow and i got no exp or weapon skills and tp was dropping like a fuze burning up. i fished for awhile, busted out my marauder ax. got exp and weapon exp. whats the deal. i feel trapped. what level do i gotta be to venture out.

Welch: Don't worry about the exp penalties (fatigue). I'm almost physical rank 21 + 17 Marauder and am yet to get any fatigue on either.

lunex: Sorry to break the bad news, but like you we are still hoping for the best. We are keeping the attitude of "we just don't know enough yet and that we haven't found the right areas and/or aren't high enough level". Here is hoping we are right.
