Onion Helm AND Goggles... can you have both?Follow

OK, it's a pretty simple question, but it might turn out to be a dud answer on SE's part.

Correct me if I am wrong...

You can only get an Onion helm on characters that are created AFTER registering the code and then making the character. The Onion Helm will then appear in your newly made character's inventory when yoy log on.

Are the Goggles the same way?

Meaning... in order to get the Onion Helm and the Goggles on a character you have to remake your character AFTER registering the codes for the Helm and the Goggles... right? meaning if you are playing right now and you have the Helm, but you want to buy a SE for the Goggles you will HAVE to remake your character.... correct?

Did SE not think about sending the newly registered code items to you via a delivery box or something? Or even have them MAGICALLY appear in your bag without having to start from scratch?

What happens if SE decides to make more special item codes in the future and you may only use them if you are on a NEW character.

I know not having the Goggles and/or Helm isn't a big thing, but I am sure many people out there will want to wear the Goggles long after they quit working.

I am kind bummed out because I had a friend that was going to give me his Goggle code, and I was going to use it on my CE character, but I am not 100% sure I will be wanting to remake my guy in order to get the Goggles... but then I think about it.... it's only a week. A week's playtime can be redone in less than a week, because you know what is going on more than you did a week before...

So I am still on the fence...

=/

There's really no way to be sure until the 30th.

I'm from Australia and EB Games gave away Garlond Goggle codes with their CE's. I've used all three codes (goggles, helmet and gauntlets) and am able to use them currently in the game right now.

You need to put these codes in to your FFXIV Service Account before making your character.

Wow, since you got the goggles already, can report about how effective they are? Do they have a limited number of uses?

Or do they do nothing?

Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.

To be honest, I haven't really noticed a major increase in skill gain. But they look **** cool, at least. I'm only phy 7 / glad 7 so I'm not sure when or if they'll lose their effectiveness.

I wanted to save my Onion Helm for a character I knew I was going to keep, so I saved the code for a couple days. I created my character on the 22nd and added the code on the 24th and I do NOT have the onion helm. Then I read the fine print saying only characters created after code registration got the helm. I sent a customer service request to SE but I'm not confident about ever getting a response.

I'm level 8/8/8 pug/min/gold. I don't really think the helm is worth starting over for. Not to mention, my SERVER IS LOCKED, so I can't roll a new character anyway. Pretty sad state of affairs from SE, IMHO. But then again, it's still pretty early in the game, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Hmm... That's NOT encouraging. I might just go and cancel my preorder for the retail release now. I thought the goggles were gonna be worth 50 bucks. I already have the CE edition, and if I have to reroll my character and risk being locked out of my server (Figaro) for crappy glasses that really don't make much of an improvement...

Yeah, scratch that. I'm going back for a refund. :P
