Tell Square Enix, and speak with your wallet.

Go to: http://support.na.square-enix.com/contacttop.php?id=902&la=1

Give them a suggestion. You don't have to fill out long forms about where you live or anything, it's just a short and simple way to give them a message where you don't expect a response.

Tell them you want an AH, or at least a way to search retainers. And tell them you won't continue your subscription until it happens. Regardless on if that is your intent or not, say it. People have said they have the framework for an AH already ... give them the reason to implement it!

Money speaks louder than words.

Regarding auctionhouses:

Regarding Final Fantasy XIV and the market battle system is something we would like to consider the equilevent to the auction house we had in Final Fantasy XI. Only that you'll also be able to fix your equipment and things like that. It is something we really want people to enjoy. Also after the release of the game we will see how it goes and for example find out what kind of search options players will want and need and improve the situation. We don't really want to introduce the auctionhouse from the beginning because that is going to determine the economy system. So we want to improve it slowly and adjust it accordingly.

SE already stated they are going to add a AH so whats the point, it just sucks we have to wait for it.

Actually, upon further review, it would seem that what they actually said was that they would CONSIDER adding the ability to search retainers.

Exactly ... so tell them they won't get any money until the add it ... and you'll see how quickly it gets added ;)

We can complain all we want here and elsewhere, but it does no good unless they hear the feedback and quite frankly I highly doubt anyone from Square-Enix reads around the English forums of any site.

Which makes me curious what the JP players are saying.

lol yeah this is like the third time someone has posted that quote from SE saying that it says they are adding an AH.
it doesnt fuggen say they are adding one at all, infact it was even stated before the release day and we still have yet to see anything.
it says they want to STRESS the retainer system as long as they can until people get THAT fed up and then they MIGHT add an actual AH SOMEDAY IN THE FUTURE AS A LAST RESORT.
it does NOT say they are just going to ad an AH

edit. i wonder too what the japanese are saying about this aswell as everything else actually.

I'll modify what was already said in another forum to recapitulate the issue:

SE said:

Regarding Final Fantasy XIV and the market battle system is something we would like to consider the equivalent to the auction house we had in Final Fantasy XI. Only that you'll also be able to fix your equipment and things like that. It is something we really want people to enjoy. And if we look at this, it's not as reassuring as I hoped it would be. Se is certainly not saying as much "an auction house is coming" as "we want people to enjoy retainers... we want to improve retainers... we don't want to implement an auction house early... we want to improve 'things' slowly."

What they mean by improving "it" in the final sentence is somewhat of a mystery: "it" could refer either to retainers (which were mentioned several times in their statement, and which seem to be the subject) or to an auction house (which was mentioned only dilatorily, but directly preceded the final sentence).

If this is all SE has said about an auction house (and I think it is), then the situation seems like it could still go either way, like the whole "we might consider it" with regard to every race being able to be either male or female.

In conclusion, SE's statement that "[Retainers are] something we would like to consider the equivalent to the auction house we had in Final Fantasy XI" is suggestive of SE not planning to implement an AH. If they think that retainers are the equivalent, then there is no reason they would implement what they see as being already implemented.

You know SE is going to do something, so to keep to my OP i said whats the point, instead of sending some feedback about a AH/retainer search that isnt going to make it far up the latter because they are working on something to fix it. how about you just wait another month into the Paid Beta to see what they are going to do, the game launched just a few short days ago. but for the record i do agree with what you said and thanks for clarifying what SE said.

I agree that SE is going to do something, the problem is what that something is going to be. I don't want to seem as though I'm judging them too harshly, as there should be no surprise that such problems exist at launch; but at the same time, I (and probably others) don't want to run the risk of keeping too quiet and having SE consequently "fix" the wrong thing.

In short, there is definitely some wisdom in waiting patiently, but also some risk that SE -- makers of this crazy system to begin with -- screws it up again lest they hear voices in favour of a simple, proven solution, and hear them clearly.

Feedback sent, I honestly hope many people are doing this, as even if they are planning on adding it in the future (be it a search function or AH, I really don't care which), it is not in the game right now, and already it's needed.
