Im really getting frustrated because ive seen my PC run games on high settings, smooth as silk...and im just having a hard time figuring out if FF14 is not quite there yet in terms of the game running smooth enough, or if its my settings.

Anyone able to give me a hand and tell me exactly what should and shouldnt be set in my nvidia settings? Ive messed with the config for ff14 as well.

Its like this, the game runs at times fine...like i may be running but then just hit rocky moments where its like it all feels heavy or chugging a bit. And i dont think its lag, i been around mmos long enough to know the feel of lag...i really dont feel its lag. It just has a heavy feeling as if it could just run a few steps smoother.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

That thread probably won't help because I have a similar card and I've got the same issue.

From what I've read and found many cards around the 200 series have this issue. Basically the game isn't optimized AT ALL for our cards. Nvidia is coming out with drivers for it but basically FFXIV is barely using your GPU's potential. So the card isn't working that hard and the game runs badly. I have a GTX260 and have the same issue. I know others with the same issue and similar cards (200 series at least).

Ah well that would be great news if they get it all fixed up. Because i just did the benchmark and got 2638 as my score, and i mean this card is beastly for so many other games.

Do you know of or when those drivers may be out?

Not a clue, I would say by release but no guarantees. It might not be nvidia and it might be FFXIV. Honestly, the whole issue is bothersome. No setting change will help much besides no shadows and no extended drawing. Textures and such will have the same framerate. I would suggest trying to ignore it or something and not use fraps to draw less attention to it until it's fixed. Sucks but it's the thing I can suggest.

Turn off extended drawing in configuration when you have the game running. Start from there.

I'm running 2 GTX 285's, which I believe is roughly the equivalent of 1 GTX 295 right? The game runs perfectly smooth for me at 1920x1080, 4xAA and everything else on high...BUT...only after I do the SLI Fix, which you can find here:

http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/10596-nvidia-sli-fix-25896-drivers/

I'm not 100% sure if this will help you, but I think it could since the GTX 295 counts as two GPUs still on one PCB.

Well im just glad its not solely on my end then or anything, i have faith they will fix it with a driver....i just hope its sooner than later.

Yea i make adjustments and it all seems to just do the same really.

Like I said, the GTX 295 is technically still using SLI technology (Multi GPU), so do the fix I posted in my previous post and I think you should see good performance gains. The 295 depends on SLI profiles like that to run well, if it doesn't have them then one of the two GPUs inside is likely contributing nothing to your frames per second.
