Live long enough to enjoy FFXIV, then move on to FFMMMDCCCLXXXVIII which will require a anti-radiation body suit and a PC powered by nuclear energy.

Contestants:

1. Sort Inventory button - Seriously?
2. Auction House - Sifting 1000 useless bazaars is an awesome way to buy useful things.
3. Old FF11 keyboard controls + macro system - just trying to switch targets is a fiasco.
4. Auto-attack - So I can answer the **** phone without dying.

...

The winner is-

Old FF11 keyboard controls + macro system.

Also the stamina system makes me want to headbutt my monitor.

This thread is making me slightly, dare I say it, emotional..

If I could have one thing from FFXI, it would be this: the magic. Although it was demanding and had its falts, there was something about the design of the game as a whole that I just connected with. I know, it's a bit abstract compared to what's been said, but that's where it's at for me.

I really hope that what we're seeing now truly is just a small portion of what's to come and of how it will play in the future.

Who knows, though it's unlikely, perhaps SE won't get the feedback they were hoping for and take the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"-mindset to certain essential aspects of the game *cough* AH *cough*.

mog house, it makes you feel so much more part of the world if you have your own house, it also gives you something to do like furnishing it and it gives you a nice quite place to chill in while talking with your LS or do some crafting

i think an AH will come in eventually hopefully or something to make searching for items you need easier. maybe people will stop crowding the first few market wards and spread out, theres alot of market wards that arent being used with stalls people could use. hopefully people will name their retainers better depending on what theyre selling instead of some silly name. and use the stalls to make it more organized instead of 1 *********** of random retainers.

Auction House.

For a game that's supposed to appeal to gamers who have limited time to spend online, having to spend 45 minutes sifting through rat pelts to find Fish Glue is in complete opposition to the point of the entire game.

Things everyone else has said: AH, Mog, Mail, Item sort

Things I also want back: <pos> place holder, party dots on the large maps, NMs (I actually liked camping them for hours with no guarantee of success, but I guess I am insane like that.)
But if I could only have 1 thing:
Valkurm Dunes, more specifically, IT mobs that you can actually beat in a pt and get really nice XP/Skill from. Right now, I find plenty of parties in my LS, but it works out to less XP and Skill per hour since it splits the XP and skill so brutally (Even in a pt of all level 10-11.) I understand making the game solo friendly, but with the incredibly weak rewards for partying (10% more gil from leves? please) this game is actually party-averse. Leve-sharing does not promote fulfillment of party roles or teamwork, since you basically do the same thing as soloing, but you share some of your XP and gil with another person.
Where are my lizards?!

You know...I finally found out what really bug me the most and what I missed the most from ff11. It is not the UI, it is not the lack of AH, or the useless search. These all can be fix later on. What really bug me the most is the lack of scenery. In 11 you get different scenery from different zone. While I like the lack of zone in FF14, the scenery just don't change at all.

We get what? A forest maze, a desert wasteland, and a grassland...and that's about it. In FF11, you run around a few mins and you get a different kind of environment to look at. Yes..the zones were small in FF11 but at less you don't have to stare at the same thing for hrs. It will be really really nice if the scenery in the same zone will gradually change. Say from Thanalan to The Black Shroud...instead of changing abruptly from waste land to lush forest maze, how awesome will it be if it slowly change from waste land to woodland then you zone and from woodland to dense forest?

The slow clunky chat system makes me not type much. Especially while crafting... I know I can hit the up arrow... But it is still frustrating.

Seek party option, like with the flag up feature, /sea ___ inv commands, etc. Playing with others makes the game more fun. That old party system made parties so much more easy to set up. I really hope they bring it back, because without a flag up feature, finding and forming parties is going to suck.

Oh and fireworks... Yes I know most of them were horribly cheesy and less than impressive, but I liked them, and always kept a bazaar packed with fireworks and various often used things for almost all jobs at equal to or less than AH prices. It was a very convenient and novel bazaar, but sadly with the new bazaar limits I don't think I'll be able to do it as well in this game... Still, with the new graphics, they could make some super a lot of fun fireworks. :3

The AH I actually think is better left out for a little while. Yeah, I know it's a pain, but I can see why SE did it, and I appreciate where they're coming from. They want a truly player established economy, not trend based, nor gilseller based, nor whoever sets the price first based. You just can't get that with an AH on day 1. I think an AH will be essential in a few more weeks, but for now I think going without one is perfectly acceptable, and this is coming from a diehard crafter.

"Slice of Life" quests around the cities. Those really added to the immersion in FFXI and I was really expecting them to be part of FFXIV. I still expect/hope they will be added, but have no idea how long until SE will get around to them.

A NPC that allows us to send/recieve items between our character and our other characters. Like the sending in xi where you recieved it in xi, except in xiv our retainers could deliver and recieve it.

So an option under retainer "Send items to another player" then you select the items and type players name. If you got items your retainer could just inform you of that and show em to you.

I really want to send stuff to the people who play the game in my house with different characters...

1 thing may be too limiting. I'm really enjoying FFXIV, but I would enjoy it more with:

AH
Chat search function
Maybe a level sync system? (I'm not really sure what kind of penalties there are for partying with people well below your level. 2 -3 levels apart don't seem to matter, but at higher levels, I can see wanting a level sync system).
Player hub city like Jeuno (I know its 'there' but not open yet)
