I find that by far the most frustrating thing in XIV is the shopping system. I was wanting some new gear today and spent a solid hour in the Market Wards being forced to search person by person in what I consider the most tedious shopping experience ever in a game.

Am I simply missing the point of this setup? Is there an auction house hidden anywhere? Is everyone as frustrated by this as I am?

Okay, everyone is frustrated by this. Well not everyone but almost everyone. We've had a lot of topics on it. When asked what does FFXIV need 90% of people go: Auction House.

Agreed. I'm pretty perplexed by it.

Although I do not play 14, this ward is sounding like what a friend of mine experienced in everquest and a zone full of bazaars and the game had a search system where you put in the item you were looking for and a line of sorts would appear that you followed that took you to the person that had the item for sale. Sounds like you folks are missing the search/line to follow part.

If having an issue with card rejected, make sure your noscript is allowing globalcollect site gcsip.com as that is where transaction is routed when I updated.

I like bazaars .. and I like the idea of retainers to do your bazaar. But it would be nice to have the choice. Just like rl .. you can find lots of ways to get rid of stuff.
I'm wondering if it is in some way to help the gathering/crafting classes. It is harder to shop.. therefore it is less about lowest price and more about finding what you want. It might help to have a "classifieds" section of these people to hire for service. In there, you could pull up lists like AH. That would be very helpful. Then you also get to know the people making stuff for you.

If SE did this then no one would be ******* The only reason that we are mad about the whole economy at the moment is the items we need, we know are out there and people have em, but in order to get him we have to spend 2-4 hours going through each bazaar to try and find the item. All SE has to do is implement a simple Search function in the Market ward and all would be fine.

Like all you do is type in a Keyword and all the retainers containing an item with the keyword/words in it will light up to be a special color. ITS THAT Simple and it will solve all this crap.

Unfortuantly SE has stated they have no plans to implement a AH system and dont plan on it, and I think they are going to stick to there guns on this one however they said they are currently working on a search function for the Market Ward area.

The way it is set up now is exactly like Maple Story(assuming you don't buy the cash item that allows you to search for however many uses) except that Maple Story is free. =\

SE is implementing a search system and splitting up the wards by categories (wherein if you are selling an item in a ward under the proper category of said item, the tax incurred on the sale is less than it would be if you were selling it in the "wrong" ward - so you still have the option but obviously you benefit selling it in the proper ward). Furthermore, they said this is happening within the next one to two weeks. Link: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=693682a80ae927d74b11a0381c7cd1af570568aa

Sortable wards will help. I don't think it'll help much, but i'm gonna say we'll see a 25-50% reduction in time to find what you're looking for.

What about the search option? I think if they separate the wards into categories and add search functionality for the ward you're currently in it would be great. They said they're adding a search option so you would look up an item and you don't have to physically speak to the retainer selling it - in essence, an AH, but I don't know what the difference would be between this and just a regular AH but I guess we'll see shortly.
