Enough of complaining about what the game is not...

Let celebrate FFXIV for what it is, a great game...If you have not purchased it yet, you should. For those who agree, please drop a note here!

The game itself, from its framework to its story, should be purchased.

For that, I drop the note.

HOWEVER. For those who cannot stomach the issues currently in the game, instead of coming here to complain, I recommend canceling your subscription for two months (or however long it takes for the AH to come out.) to let the bugs get worked on.

As it stands I thourghly enjoy the game, but I can also understand why some won't in its current position.

So, to those wanting to purchase a new game, you have a decision to make:

If you desire a clean, polished game with all the base features you would 'expect' from an MMO. Hold off a while.

If you don't mind being a part of the initial charge, wanting to immerse yourself in what works in spite of what doesn't, then buy. There is a LOT of good in this game, especially for the crafters or pioneers in the crowd.

Just stop with the complaining already though. It's taken to an extreme and the game's pros don't deserve to be overlooked cause people keep screaming about the cons till the cows come home.

Be it praise or complaint, it is all feedback, which is needed by any developer/company. To tell someone to stop complaining is basically cutting off a form of communication.

One thing people are forgetting, is the reason why many are so upset, is because their expectations may have been somewhat high. Now, that is not unfounded, especially when you consider how many years experience SE has been in this business with the online community.

I have seen a ton of very constructive well thought out posts with criticism and without from many of the posters here. The critics are not just posting negative comments, they are giving suggestions on how to improve the game. So i guess what I am trying to say, is not to shut off the communication, be it positive or negative.

Now I don't think that's very true at all, sometimes it's completely practical to overlook positive aspects because of negative ones.
You don't hear people arguing the benefits of Asbestos.
"I'm tired of hearing about cancer damnit! No one talks about it's uses as a fire retardant anymore."

People should weigh the pros and the cons and take into account the stage the game is in.
Then they can decide if they want to buy it, wait it out, or choose another game.

I personally enjoy the challenges present in the game at this time (specifically the lack of an AH). Nothing is handed to you on a silver platter and it makes things more interesting. I do want things to become easier over time and I know that they will but for now I don't mind not having the greatest gear and having to pull strings to get better gear. My bro just made me a new wand. :D

FFXIV is fun!!

I would love to buy the game and celebrate it. But when i run Crysis at 60+fps and FFXIV at 15fps, it's not even an option for me.

While the developers have stated they want it to look great in years to come, the game is obviously coded extremely poorly.

Someday if they ever decide to optimize the game, I bet their subs will increase by 30-50%. Their are a large number of us with high-end rigs who refuse to buy it while its running at 15fps.

It's unacceptable.

If the game ran at a decent fps, i'd go buy the CE version right now and start playin. A very large number of CE pre-orders were canceled because of this.

It does run at a high fps, my rig is brand new (although not super top line) and it runs all settings on high and 4x aa minus the AO. Only trouble I have is due to server lag

"Those of us with high end rigs". I have a high end rig - runs this game amazingly smooth with everything on max. The only thing I have switched off is Ambient occlusion. Game looks amazing and plays amazing on a high end rig. Perhaps your drivers are not up to date?

First thing I would like to say is that I am really having fun playing this game. There are issues, sure the lack of an AH and inadequate storage space is annoying but I am having a great time so what does it matter.

What really confuses me most is that the same people here trolling about how terrible the game is, were the same people here trolling about how terrible beta was. They are the same people desparately spending every spare minute in the game and I imagine having fun whilst they are doing it.

If you hate the game so much - why are you playing it.

Honestly, despite massive love from the gaming community, I didnt enjoy Dragon Age! Did I make a fuss about it, no I just didnt play. Now if I had chance to play a demo version I probably wouldnt have wasted my money.

There is nothing wrong with this game that cant be fixed quickly. THe problem is that many players have ported across from other games and just cant deal with change. I am trying desperately hard not to be disparaging here because I was criticised previously for not adding anything constructive, but there are already 55 threads slagging of the game and one positive one. Why are you playing? Go back to whatever MMO you were playing before so the rest of us can enjoy our new game.

I actually dislike these posts far more than any complaining about the game's problems. I want to see people complain because that's what will fuel the engine for change. Saying 'If you don't like it, don't play it' will never get any problems fixed. Surely you aren't completely happy with the game as it is? I tend to think that, if the problems were so easy to fix, they would have been by now. Some of the problems are so glaring that I can't see how they were ever overlooked. Yes, I feel that this will be a great game in time. But we should not sit back and hope it will be great. You should not also quit after a week because it isn't great already. You should support the game, voice your opinions, and give up only when you feel they simply aren't going to change it.

I'd have to agree with some people, if I were to tell friends about the game I'd tell them to wait until it got better. Don't get me wrong, I love the game actually. And some of the storylines are really good... But right now I find something about the game that's just a tad boring... It's not leveling, and certainly not the crafting. Surprisingly, this is the first game I've played where I WANT to do crafting and other stuff, just because it's fun. What I'm thinking is the game lacks the sort of immersion that many MMOs have had, FFXI for example. Something about FFXIV just seems to be missing for me anyway... I'll definitely keep playing of course, for when I get into the game I really get going. But at times like right now I just can't get myself excited enough to actually log in.

But in regards to the game, no at this time I couldn't recommend someone to go out and buy it. Maybe the standard edition, but certainly not the collector's. But that's only if some of the issues (Such as making things a little more responsive, adding in features save the Auction House that SHOULD have been in there to begin with.) that are really holding the game back are fixed. I'm hoping maybe they've been putting off some of it due to the standard edition being released soon and want to throw it all in as one large patch. More servers or better support for them, fixes for some things that should have already existed. By the way, I hope I'm wrong on this but anyone getting the feeling that if an AH is implemented it may not be until the PS3 release? Likely do do that just because by then there will be an even larger influx of players and the retainer system just won't be as effective anymore, not that is really is to begin with.

The PS3 release is 6 months from now, I think. If they wait until then to fix the Market Wards and many of the other main issues, I'll be long gone by then. I'll give them 3 months maybe to fix some of the issues that are really bothering me. If they wait until the PS3 release, then this really is a 'paid beta', and no PC user should stand idly by while being treated like a 2nd rate customer.

I guess my problem is that some of the features listed as being bad - I actually see as quite good. I dont want SE to change the game because of the vocal minority saying they hate it. There are already lots of games out there for people who want that type of game. I want FFXIV. I dont mind the menus - I like traditional style RPG's. I understand some people dont like it but you already have games on the market that suit your play style. Let those of us that want a more traditional old skool experience have a game.

You can disagree with my opinion - thats fine, but you cant tell me not to have one. There are 50 hate threads - please let those of us having fun have 1 positive thread without all of the trash talk.

i'm loving it..

soloing feels like a combination of my bst and drk from ffxi...

menu lag sucks

i see they took some of the best parts of ffxi and streamlined them.. like the macros, mastering diffent weapons.. that delay with the leveling might seem odd but feels like a stream lined ffxi since i had to level practically every job in ffxi.. doing the same thing now just better..

i'm sure i'll find some places i'd like to see tweaks eventually

as for complaining. ehh .. up to a point or goal.. we have all seen people complain about a class or weapon etc.. give their opinion only to get it all backwards and nerfed.. how does this happen? when you complain about how one thinks it should work SE isn't going to listen to those suggestions.. they are going to say.. "the community thinks X is broken lets fix it our way" and bam no one gets what they want and it was perfectly fine the first way people just needed to play according to how it was made and ask for tweaks not overhauls..

LOL, reading through the ffxi forums you would think each and every poster/gamer was a game developer

You can't just say "it does run at a high fps" and then neglect to tell us what FPS you're actually getting on your "brand new (although not super top line)" computer with "all settings on high and 4x aa".

That's like saying "my car gets good mileage, I can drive from Los Angeles to San Diego without stopping for gas."

Would actually not recommend the game to friends unless they like crafting. Its a really big part of FF14, even more than FF11
Love it for that, but may not be for everybody :)
