I'd have to agree with some people, if I were to tell friends about the game I'd tell them to wait until it got better. Don't get me wrong, I love the game actually. And some of the storylines are really good... But right now I find something about the game that's just a tad boring... It's not leveling, and certainly not the crafting. Surprisingly, this is the first game I've played where I WANT to do crafting and other stuff, just because it's fun. What I'm thinking is the game lacks the sort of immersion that many MMOs have had, FFXI for example. Something about FFXIV just seems to be missing for me anyway... I'll definitely keep playing of course, for when I get into the game I really get going. But at times like right now I just can't get myself excited enough to actually log in.
But in regards to the game, no at this time I couldn't recommend someone to go out and buy it. Maybe the standard edition, but certainly not the collector's. But that's only if some of the issues (Such as making things a little more responsive, adding in features save the Auction House that SHOULD have been in there to begin with.) that are really holding the game back are fixed. I'm hoping maybe they've been putting off some of it due to the standard edition being released soon and want to throw it all in as one large patch. More servers or better support for them, fixes for some things that should have already existed. By the way, I hope I'm wrong on this but anyone getting the feeling that if an AH is implemented it may not be until the PS3 release? Likely do do that just because by then there will be an even larger influx of players and the retainer system just won't be as effective anymore, not that is really is to begin with.
