I had just gotten this game preordered a couple of days ago and am pretty pumped about it. I did not get the collectors edition because I can wait the final 4 days for it, but from what I've been reading from this forums is that people have so many problems with it.

For all those people, I have but one question that I would like you to answer me: What MMO has come out that has been PERFECT at launch date?

I ask this because I am positive that even the all mighty WoW wasnt even close to perfect when it came out and no game before it.

Yes, there might be some majors flaws right now, but what everyone has complained about is either how FFXI was or will be patched in the near future.

I pity the players that put the game down because the game doesn't "hold your hand" and make sure that every single thing you do takes you 5 minutes. This game will be a nice relaxing alternative to living in WoW for far too long.

Just about every innovation ff14 made has turned out bad. Their class exp system just backfired and allowed a rank 29 by day 4. their retainer system has turned into the mass of zombie bazaars selling marmot meat bogging down the wards and stoping people from finding real crafters. Their attempts at making the game more involved for crafters has made it so difficult to get even low level upgrades, that many people are in their late teens using weathered weapons.

I'm glad you're excited, I am too. But these problems need to be addressed, and deserve to be commented on.

They are shallow, and have to give time for fixes. I feel like I'm saying the same thing in every thread.... sigh.

Well the things you listed really weren't the "complaining" I was directing towards. I have read posts that are complaining about not being able to click on a chest and such. These people get flustered and just say the game sucks. This is not WoW and anyone that wants that sort of thing should go play WoW.

But for what you said, Yes they need to address that rank 29 ordeal, I'm not too educated with what they're doing but I have seen it on some posts and thats just ridiculous. Eventually they will fix the problems with the difficulty of getting better weapons and such.

I think your misreading the source of peoples complaints. FFXIV is just poorly designed, in every possible respect. It's true that the sparseness of the content is problematic (I've played lots of MMOs at launch that gave me something to do) but the bigger problem is that the very core of the game - the basic mechanics - are completely broken. As was mentioned before, crafting has backfired, upgrading your equipment is **** near impossible, repairing your equipment is the same, the UI is a mess (and I'm playing it with a controller).

None of this will be fixed with new content updates. The game needs a complete overhaul of it's core systems. It feels like the lead designer completely missed the whole MMO genre and instead based all of his design decisions on the most obscure, convoluted MUD he could find.

i get what you say about the game doesnt have to be wow, but it shouldnt be anti-wow either. alot of things in this game arent very intuitive at all. having to open up the main menu to check bazaars, open chests, teleport, when all of those could have been triggered by clicking on the notifying graphic, is just bad UI design.

and yes the gear thing will get worked out later on. As long as people are repairing items and reselling them, a secondary market will develop and stuff will get cheap. However, there is zero reason that a level 9 harpoon should take 4 different professions, requiring as high as level 15 synths. I've easily spent twice the time it took to get to level 12, by crafting and searching for a weapon upgrade.

I am just hoping that these problems will eventually be fixed, I have bought the game and I will play it. i have heard a lot about the good things and will go with that and fight through the problems. Eventually people will break that barrier or upgrading weapons and armor and slowly but surely It will eventually even out so more people upgrade...We are only a week or so into the real version of the game, I will make huge decisions when the 30 day trial ends

I agree that the 30 day trial is a blessing for SE right now. I've certainly stopped playing it with the kind of fervor I was expecting to play it with, but every couple of days I'll hop and see if I can't level up.

I won't cancel my subscription until the 30 days are up. Maybe they'll patch the **** out of it and remove alot of the barriers to enjoyment that I'm experiencing, but my problems are just so fundamentally basic that I'm not holding out much hope.

What exactly is wrong with the crafting system? It's 4 days in the crafters have yet to make acquaintances with their counter parts for resources. People are also using starter gear into their teens because there is no AH , they have no efficient way of finding new gear. The crafting system implemented by SE is excellent, a veritable bright spot, quite possibly the only feature of the game working nearly perfectly.

If only there was an auction house.

There's only so many complaints because SE had such a long beta for this game. It's expected that they should have been prepared to fix certain things before releasing the game due to the long beta, but they didn't. I understand it's a lot of work making a game, but if they didn't have the time to fix the major flaws and meet the deadline, they should have postponed. Because they didn't, they are getting a lot of negative feedback from angry players that spent the extra dollar on the CE to find that not much is fixed from the beta. More people are complaining instead of enjoying, and that's not because of the people, it's because of the game.

I'm still completely baffled by the lack of one. The Market Ward is ridiculous. I can't wait to see how it'll be in another week or so. There's no way these guys are stupid enough to think this would've worked without some kind of search function. MMOs are not going to be perfect at launch, but this is too much. But meh, I'll just keep leveling every craft. I'm sure they'll sort it out soon.
