Basically just wanting to know if you'll have to make a new character after 30 days if you start on a buddy pass. If you can keep your character, do you have to register a new copy of the game, or do you just have to start paying subscription fees on your buddy account?

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

I'm on a buddy pass wondering the same thing.

My past mmo experience leads me to assume we'll keep our characters regardless on the semantics.

O hay, I just referenced your joke thread. Welcome to the forum.

My girlfriend is going to start playing but isn't confident she'll stick with the game, but I bought her a copy regardless. I'm just wondering if I should start her off on a buddy pass so I can return her copy if she's right, or if she'll lose her character and then definitely not keep playing.

That's a good question. I do know one thing. With the trial account you get no special stuff.

Collectors edition got a hat and regular gets glasses I was told.
Trial accounts get neither.

Not a dealbreaker at all but something to think about.

Hopefully someone will answer your question soon.

Peace.

Another concern I have with the buddy pass is how the billing will work. If you your friend activates the buddy pass now, on 9/26/2010, then it will expire on 10/26/2010, so if they want to keep playing SE will charge them immediately the $12.99 for October, and then on November 1st charge them again for another $12.99.

Unless... once a buddy account ends, it is suspended, and the person can wait until Nov. 1st to buy the game and register it with the buddy pass account (to keep their character).

Another thing is, my friend said when he used my buddy pass, it asked for his credit card info... why would it need your credit card info unless you could actually renew the buddy pass account and keep playing past the 30 days? Weird...

FFXIV is on 30 day billing cycle, not beginning of the month like FFXI

Do you have to enter billing information to use the buddy pass?

i'm assuming that once the buddy *** trial is over, you'd just go out, buy the game, then link the new serial to the buddy pass on the SE account management page to continue on your character.

No billing information is required for the buddy pass.
