Can anyone explain group XP?Follow

I never personally figured this out in open beta. People on these forums were saying that its shared throughout the group. I remember people saying that only the person that killed the enemy would see the XP gain.

I can't tell how it's working right now. Are we sharing XP here? I noticed that I don't have to get the kill to see XP gains sometimes. Sometimes XP will show up, sometimes it wont.

Anyone have a more conclusive answer on how XP, namely skill XP, works in groups?

Physical XP I assume works somewhat similar to XI did in that groups get a share based on the kill, with level adjustments made to the XP earned. I have limited experience of this but based on a handful of observations Id surmise that this is the case.

Class XP seems to be a free for all though. If player A spanks the mob and gets 1000 class XP, and player B sits on his **** and does nothing (or oppositely and maddeningly, is altruistic and does nothing but heals) and gets 0 class XP, at the end of the fight A gets 1000 and B gets 0. It isn't shared.

I agree with the above, your class exp seems to be determined by how much you help in the fight, which is why healers get skill ups for healing.

However it seems that though physical exp is similar to ffxi that when you form a part it almost gets cut by 50%, I havent figured out the formula yet but its obvious it gets cut.
Also it seems that even if your in a party but out of range you will get full exp.
For example a friend and I were doing a leve, while i was mining away from him the imps were giving him 1k exp, as soon as I rolled up close to him the exp went down to like 6-800

not sure how the formula works, or how level gaps play a role.

As the battle logs show, you get class XP for performing class actions and spells and not for defeating the mob, although the points are not actually awarded until the mob is defeated. It would not make sense for them to be shared and are probably completely independent of partying.

Try to imagine, that while 5 of your friends are in a combat, and you are doing fishing not far away from them. So you wont get any class Exp from the fight, but prolly some Physicall Exp. If you heal during a fight, you get Class Exp for every (or mostly every) Cure spell you cast. So class EXP depens always on what action you do during the fight.

Conjurers casting heal do get exp. In fact, we tested this out in a balanced 6 man camp party and I was getting more exp spamming aoe heals than attacking the mod. This was not the case in beta but is fixed no so no altruism involved. Conjurers are rewarded for playing their class as a healer should be paid.

That was until right now - not sure but I think we might be about to get hit with the nerf bat in the current emergency maintenence.
