This is something I found yesterday regarding Local Leves. In doing Local Craft Leves, you are given a set amount of Requested Materials to complete the order. You can, in fact, use your additional Material Attempts to gain additional skill, even if you've finished the order.

So for instance, you talk to the NPC, get your requested materials for that Local Leve, and you begin crafting. Two required, 4 Attempts offered. You finish the two required without fail, and still have two remaining attempts. Simply continue crafting for Skill & Experience points until you've used all of your attempts.

This doesn't not seem like an exploit, so you're simply utilizing the attempts given to you. If you failed the first two attempts, you require the remaining two, and you get skill for the failed attempts. So the way I see it, it's simply there for you to utilize. Initially I wasn't using the extra attempts, I was just using what was required and handing in the leve. The skill & xp gain can be significant and helpful, especially with raising crafting ranks.

Yep, pretty much did this ever since I looked into local leves more. A great way to get the first few levels of your desired tradeskill. Makes crafting the basics once you really start so much smoother. So it's a very good idea to do the local leves prior to your first real crafting attempts.

Usually, they will provide you with more materials than needed in case you botch a synthesis, but if you are successful in completing all of the items, you can gain more class points by using up the remaining materials. Using up the additional materials will also gain you more evaluation points and turning in more than the minimum amount of items will net you greater quality rewards and bonus gil.

Good Tip, thanks for posting.

No, this isn't an exploit, it's in a few 'starter guides' that I have read, i'm not sure if anything 'official' said it, but it certainly seems like I read something similar on the official site. (don't quote me though, heh.)

Seems it is, I didn't notice it looking through because it's all the way at the bottom of the section, last paragraph. Still thought it'd be good quick info for those that haven't scoured the Wiki and are winging it in-game. Smiley: wink
