Repair merchants in each town are in the merchant strips, u can see ure item's "health" be looking in ure item/equipment pane, just mouse over the equipped item. will say something like 89000/100000, will also say its repair component, for bows its branches, such as maple etc,.

Meara in the Ebony Stalls.
If you go into your inventory and select a piece of equipment you can see the wear of the item. The NPC will also show this as a percent when selecting which item to repair.

NPC in the big hall where all the crafting booth are (east side of the city). Name is something like neena but cant remember exactly. Ask one of the 100s crafter their full time, they are getting crafting support from her.

regarding which item needs repair, if the item is below 75% remaing durability, it can be repaired by the NPC up to 75%.
If an item drops below 50% you get a penalty. If an item drops below 25% the penalty is harsher.
I once got my starting h2h weapon to 1 remaing durability and the weapon didnt break. I dont know if it is because it is my starting weapon of if it is because item cant break.

note that repairing via craft restore durability to 100% instead of 75% (meaning twice more time with full efficiency, which is pretty sweet)

Hmm, I have a similar question... Does an item need to be at 100% condition to sell it in your bazaar?

in every city it's the NPC booth with the crowd around it, most of the other stalls will have no more than a few customers, but the repair NPC (in Gridania on release, and all cities in Beta) has an aerethyte size crowd at almost all times.

You also cannot directly trade items that are less than 100% dura to other players through the trade window.

I have a question too. Can Armorers/Blacksmiths repair their own equipment? I presume you just do a synth with the item to be repaired and the material needed to repair it. Is that right?

Blacksmith needs two hammers to repair his own gear. The item to be repaired cannot be equiped to repair it. Anyone can repair their own equipment if they wanted. Sometimes it is cheap to pay the repair cost than to repair the item. For example a weathered cane costs ~150 to repair but the item to repair costs ~1950.
