Cost of skilling up a craft...Follow

It appears that the local leve quests all come with materials, or have, throughout the quest, materials that you gain without cost. Can anyone comment on the later leve quests, do they also provide materials to you? If they do then can I expect to skill up whatever DoH jobs I want with zero cost so long as I stick to the leves?

So far that is how it is working. And i have 4 crafts at level 10 and the rest 5-9 and havent spent a single gil. If you mine/log/fish, as of now you wouldnt have to spend anything. But yes so far for me every leve has given me the items.

IIRC, the Local Levequest NPC does not ask for a Level Tier when you go for new Leves, you're simply offered what they have available. So they aren't like the Regional Leves in that you can request 1~, 10~, 20~, etc. in terms of rank. So far I've seen them in the 1~ and 10~ rank bracket (ie. Camp Bearded Rock & Camp Skull Valley). Don't know if they will start mixing in higher tier later.

By rank 13 you can get rank 15 local leve. Beware though, higher rank local leves are hard (as are crafting in general beyond the first 10 ranks), I have a rank 6 tool, wearing DoH clothes to boost crafting attributes, I'm a goldsmith and I dump 60% of my points in DEX (because I also level Archer/Lancer and I hate missing), I drink and eat food that boost crafting attributes, use abilities (I have Epiphany from Goldsmith and Tender Touch from woodworking, use them together) and yet I could only do 4/5. To make the matter worse, high rank leve doesn't appear often, like 1 out of 5 leves offered. The low rank leves now give only as much SP and EXP as a normal crafting of my rank. So yes, you do get free skill up but they will get very very slow as you progress further.

I havent seen them broken out by level yet, but I have seen them broken down by camp, and the recommended level seems to scale up, but I'm only level 8 in my highest DoH, still getting great gains from the recommended level 1's... Just curious, I hope its not the case, I could just imagine what crafting would have been like if it didnt cost an arm and a leg for me to skill up cloth or alch to 100 (on different chars due to the restriction) in FFXI...

Like I said, they started to break out in level/rank past rank 10, and they get progressively harder, while the lower level/rank one give diminishing return (At rank 10 I still get 300 SP 1.1k Exp per synth with rank 1 leve, at rank 13 I get 200 SP and 800 Exp).
