Its a problem with the Crysta system, which seems fine until you see that.

100 = $1
100 = €1
100 = £1

but

$1 = €1 = £1

is not right

if the game cost 1000 Crysta a month to play thats

US - $10
EU - €10 = $13.41
UK - £10 = $15.71

which means that the players in the UK are effectively paying 50% more for the same thing.

Anyone that is not in US or Japan have to go with EU version, and have to pay like a EU player :< so at least you guys don't feel lonely getting "ripped off". I'm an Aussie.

But I still play.

Welcome to rip-off Britain!

We pay more for everything else so why are you suprised!?
Oh btw it doesn't cost £15.71 a month to play FFXIV, its a 30 day period not a monthly fee and it costs £8.99/30days.

Protip: It's not 1000 Crysta per month for all regions. Each region has a different subscription rate, and therefore a different Crysta amount. The actual rates are as follows:

£8.99/mo = 899 Crysta
€12.99/mo = 1299 Crysta
$12.99/mo = 1299 Crysta

Now the EU rates are still somewhat higher than the US rate, but the GBP and Euro rates are on par. This is not a problem with the Crysta system, however.

It is a problem with Crysta, because despite what SE said Crysta is not available in many regions, Australia for example. And this might be because Crysta purchased through Ultimate Game Card are priced with USD and not EUR, making SE less profit. Of course this is just a conspiracy theory, but still...

Maybe it's because I have my credit card based in the US but I'm in the UK playing on a US version. Couldn't you just buy the US version, use PayPal to buy crysta and then pay for the game in dollars if you were EU?

In actuality UK players are getting a better deal for their money then those paying in euros if it was based on exchange rates alone:

UK £8.99/month = 14.25USD/10.57EUR

Whereas those paying in Euros have it worse of:

EU 12.99/month = 17.51USD/11.05GBP

€15 = 1500 Crysta..
$15 = 1500 Crysta..

You pay 1299 Crysta per month both in US and in EU.. so...
