I don't know how applicable this is to most people, but for players using a game pad for controlling their characters, and using ventrillo at the same time, what do you bind to your push to talk?

I'm playing on a ps2 pad, and they have something mapped to every possible button, and not only that but pretty much all of them will interfere in some way with combat if you hold them down to talk. I mainly just use vent to have casual conversations while I grind, and right now I have to either wait till between mobs, or for a lull in combat to talk. This has lead me to not be able to talk as much as I might like.

I currently am using select, because it is the least annoying thing to have double bound. I just have to hit x to get back out of the status window. I am actually thinking pushing the right analog stick and unbinding changing views entirely might be a better solution, because I never utilize first person(though I did in ffxi playing thief, the main reason I am leery of getting used to a vent bind I might have to change at some point). I guess I could just use voice activation, but that can be just as troublesome. No one wants to hear me breathing or shouting down the hall.

Any one have a creative solution? I'm leaning towards unbinding camera changing. Maybe there's something I haven't thought of?

Have you tired to just go handsfree? Just don't forget it's on... could lead to some interesting broadcasts.

As you probably already know, the best solution would be to unbind one of your buttons on your controller and use that.

That is exactly what I did until I stopped using vent because skype is much easier for everyone I play with to use and unlike vent/ts/mumble it has VERY good background noise cancellation. I didn't even realize background noise was such an issue with vent/mumble/ts until I tried using them and within an hour went back to skype.

I can watch TV while using skype but have yet to find any combination of settings in vent that would cancel out the background noise enough to watch a show without broadcasting the audio to everyone (using speak-to-talk) and I hate using P-t-T.
