If you have wandered out into the wilds, you will have noticed a lot of drops off of mobs. I assumed, like in FFXI, that pretty much all of the things you can acquire are useful to some professions. So I have horded all I could possibly horde. But, when looking at the recipes, I noticed a lot of the things I thought were going to be helpful, aren't.

Take for example the squirrel pelts (Can't remember their exact name right now). I thought they would help me level my leatherworking and I could make a great many things out of them. I come to find out that they are only used in one recipe. A recipe to make a part, and said part helps make a shirt that I didn't like or think was good enough for all the mats required. So, I vendered them for a good amount of money. They sold pretty well!

So, do you vender? Or do you horde? Or do you try to sell them in the bazaars for an ungodly amount of money?

i go with choice D) all of the above

depending on what i want or need i have been target farming atm for a very expencive item. Flax
it is use to make a oil to make dyes for leatherworking. to make a robe for my con........

i think they over did the crafting system a bit for a no AH system. should have made mats a lil more easly obtainable imo.

also there reason for no ah isint working since theres still gil farmers, they just found a diferent way to make the gil. no ah is only hurting the ligit players.

Something to keep in mind is that we don't know all of the recipes yet. It's quite possible that those are used in recipes that haven't been discovered (possibly higher level?). I personally vendor a lot of my drops anyway, just to get them out of my inventory and avoid the hassle of managing a retainer for less profitable stuff, but that's up to you.

I vendor most my junk, though I do try to look the item up before doing so. If I deem it worth holding on to for either self use or putting on the bazaar, I'll keep it.

I would love an AH for the sole reason of finding dyes, Each item has a different dye to use. It's killing me trying to find dyes when searching everyones bazaars and all they are selling is the junk found off level one mobs.

But I digress. Things will get figured out eventually.

I NPC Marmot Pelts, they drop very open and NPC for 450+gil each. very good source of income for beginner.
Rat Pelt is about 200+gil if I remember it correctly. To make pelt in to fur, you will need lv10 leather work.
They drop lots and just take space if you want to keep them. So why not make some gil and maybe keep a stack if you wants to make them at lv10 leather work.

I NPC a lot of drops be cause to make them into some usable materials will take some time before I reach that level.

I usually try to trade and/or give the materials to other crafters in my LS. If no one wants them, then I sell them in my bazaar at under the NPC price if one is available. The only thing I usually NPC is meat drops because no one seems to really do much cooking right now.

Vendor Trash, everything. I don't craft.

I sell crystals and shards in my bazzar. That's it.

I hope I don't regret it.

I hord everything. Some things I craft into something on the spot and either wear it or stick in bazaar. I drop/eat/vender cooking items to make space for the rest of the stuff I get. The whole +1 + 2 +3 is killing me on space... I mean really 160 spaces is not enough when you add up all the combinations, and WHY are they making a new game but only allowing some items to stack to 99+ while others pile up to 12.... and start a new stack to take up even more space...

As you can see I've been messing around with several jobs and several crafts (which can be a huge headache!)

I generally NPC most all of my drops for cash to get better gear when I stumble upon it or to buy hard to make ingredients all while keeping some of the items to use to lvl up different crafts. I really haven't done much in terms of a bazaar to this point but that may change once I get a better handle on what the pricing for items should be. I'm simply the type who would feel equally bad if I were over-pricing or under-pricing materials or crafted items. I don't want to get ripped off nor rip someone else off haha.

Some of the drops are really pretty nice and because I'm also gathering and not simply relying on battles for drops I'm getting access to some cool stuff to sell/craft and getting shards too. The crafting thing, like some have posted here, is a bit of a rabbit hole as you start picking up another craft in order to make an ingredient for your chosen craft... before you know it you're 5 crafts in and you have to just draw a line somewhere! As it stands the combination of just gear and weapons/tools for crafting are starting to add up - just those plus a few ingredients I may be stockpiling or working with and my inventory is already a little over half full. This means I'm making more trips back to town to NPC stuff and I'm doing more crafting in the field.

It's been fun so far but I haven't really ventured out very far in terms of the world. That's going to make things a lot more fun and probably a lot more inconvenient!

I learned my lesson from selling loads of stuff to NPCs my first 30ish levels in XI (And not knowing about how to get crytsals for the first 20ish levels)... I tried to do my research and see what's needed for what I plan to level or make, everything else goes on bazaar for slightly cheaper than it's available at a local NPC.

I've tried to bazaar stuff but I have no idea what any of it is worth. I've tried checking other retainers to provide comparable prices but can't find prices for some of them.

Same with me too.

I sell things for flat rates in my bazaar. If somethings sell more than others, I raise the prices on those. But for the most part I undercut. I just want to liquidate and empty my inventory as quickly as possible.

It's a good thing I know nothing about economics, but even if I did, I'm probably doing it all wrong.

i make sure to put an hour away a day in order to sell my entire inventory to an npc. I get quick naps in while I wait for the item to sell and then have an alarm go off when the sale is through. Then i proceed with the +1 marmot pelts.

I love this game and have created many posts about loving it, but I think this has pushed my button the most. The time sink involved in simply clearing your inventory. The reason it bothers me is because it is not a computer issue or anything user involved, it's just a huge delay in the servers for whatever reason. I'm sure it'll be fixed so i'm not going to produce a 4 page troll thread about it =P
