Hi guys, long time no see. :)

I'm enjoying the game immensely, with the standard exceptions. But I have one question that I can't find the answer to, here or elsewhere. Unless it's so obvious, I'm just not seeing it.

When you gain a physical level, you get points to allocate. The stats I understand, but the elements? Not so much. Are they points to elemental damage we may do, or points towards resistance?

Resistance would be impolite.

I know for a fact that pumping points into one increases the drop rate for that type of shard.

I get wind shards like crazy after allocating 60 into wind.

They factor into both elemental resistance and elemental damage. I'm not sure if the shard drop rate suspicion has been confirmed or not, but many people believe it to be true.

OMG, never even linked the two together! I keep getting ice shards and that may be why. Time to amp up my fire, just in case.

Thanks!

It seems to me the elements I put all my points into (earth, fire, wind) have a high rate of dropping 6 shards off the respective mobs, while I don't really recall getting more than 3 lightning, water, or ice at a time.

Also I'm seeing 2 fire crystals sometimes.

If I were to guess ... I'd say the higher your element the more likely it is to double the amount of shards/crystals.

I've always just assumed the resistance part, but I did not realize the damage part had been tested and confirmed. Do you possibly have a link for a test?

So can you re-allocate points after they're already set? It would be nice for farming and also open up options for end game battles. Re-spec fee's in other games had the potential to be annoying, but the results in end game was both necessary and well worth it. Not to mention PVP.

Yes, you can and there's no "fee." In your point allocation menu there's a "Reallocate" button (I think that's what it was called). It basically removes a set number of points from each stat that has points allocated to it and places them back in available points (seems like it might be based on your current level). For example, it might pull 8 points from VIT INT MND and PIE to give you 32 available points to redistribute.

The only "catch" is that you can only do this once every 15 minutes or so making it take quite a while to redistribute all of you points. I'm not sure on the exact time interval. Also, elemental points are redistibuted at the same time in a similar manner.
