Couple days ago I was trying to get to the Ises of Umbra node outside of Limsa.
Upon exiting the tunnel there are 2 Clippers on the path. I assumed aggro mob
and waited, but they never moved away.
So I said ***** it and tried to run by and was promptly 1 shotted.

Forward to next day...I'm now looking to get to South Bloodshore node.
Oh great, clippers guarding the way so I waited and they moved so I could
get by.

I made my way around the next corner only to spy Clippers all along the narrow beach, hummm.
Knowing I wouldn't get by those and not wanting to backtrack I again said ***** it
and made a mad dash.

The first Clipper I passed saw me,raised it's claws to attack but didn't.Of course
I didn't stop running.I passed another same thing.

All of the Clippers would see me,go into an aggressive stance but didn't attack.

Long winded I know, sry, but are these aggressive or not?
Is it because I never paused/stopped the reason they didn't attack?

I may have to go back and stop in front of one to see what happens.

It may depends on how long you stay near the mob.

They started some interesting things with mob agression later on in XI, so I assume they are carrying that over to XIV.

yeah it seems a lot of mobs will give you a warning, very much like animals, and only if you **** them off will they attack you. others just want to kill you regardless of what you do.

I was checking out a huge lizard near Limsa, think it was called an Eft. I ran close to see if it would aggro, and nothing. I wanted to get a closer look, so I walked right up to it. I stood there for a good 10 seconds checking it out and then BAM! it one-shotted me. Same thing happened with a wind element. There's definitely some odd aggro rules.

The Coblyns like to follow you around, which is unnerving until you realize that, no, they're not chasing you because they aggro'd.

I think I saw those same clippers on the way to Isles of Umbra. I didn't know they aggro'd, though I did notice them rear up when I got close. I pushed past them like I had for every other crab I'd seen thus far and kept on moving. Next thing I notice is one of the dots is following me. One, not two. So I flip my camera around, and sure enough, one crab's bearing down me. I try and escape, but he pegged me with one shot from afar and went back. The other crab never bothered to come after, though it had reared up like the first had.

I guess they were doing rock/paper/scissors to decide who would go after the poor dumb level 4 pugilist.
