I think this has been discussed somewhat but I haven't seen or heard this take. Maybe I'm crazy but, I saw a video, not sure which one where they briefly showed Shipbuilding. Now, seeing as there is a strong emphasis on crafting in this FF and none of our gear/armor/tools exist until they are crafted, do you think we could possibly build houses? SE can't say anything or it'd be a spoiler. There is no way SE is letting this game "not" be a Grand Final Fantasy. I really think the community is building this game from the ground up. Thoughts?

Yes they are planning on implementing ship building. Housing however? I doubt that but you never know. I know they are planning on doing some kind of housing for companies.

Alittle off topic but related: My LS crafters took over a market ward in Gridania, one of the lesser used ones further down the list since everyone likes to just cram into the first one. They set up shop and all hang out there, and when us grinders (disciples of war/magic) need something made we drop in and visit. We also donate our spoils of war to them as they're always in need of crystals and shards. It's kind of become our LS house :)

Can't wait, is there some where online that SE posted about what will/might come to FF14?

Well I know Gridarnia has an zone not open yet. This could be for a future housing development project

It sounds like this game is only enjoyable if you already have a large guild from FFXI. So much for SE saying it's designed to be soloable.

See, this is the kind of thing that will make FFXIV stand out. I know the retainer systems needs better implementation and tools, etc, etc, I'm not debating that. But at its heart the market ward system it is an extremely ballsy move on the part of SE, designed to push the economy into something that builds organically, driven by player interactions. This choice will ultimately make FFXIV a much richer experience, even though everyone will have to deal with economic growing pains for a few months while the system takes root. Hang tight, it'll be worth it!

The biggest thing to me is that me and fellow crafters are starting to get to know each other. Its very similar to the way crafting communities worked in SWG i like actually having to build connections with players instead searching a AH for parts.
