Hey there, I am in the process of mapping my 360 controller for FFXIV... I think I have it set up pretty well... my question to you is, what controller are you using, and how is it mapped? mine goes as follows....

Movement - left Stick
Camera - Right Stick
Menu - D-Pad
Select - A
Back - B
Stack Battle Commands - X
Autorun - Left Bumper
Target - Left Trigger
Attack - Passive/active
Map - Right thumbstick Down
View Status effects - Y

i have a wireless controller that is currently hooked up to my xbox with an adapter usually used for recharging the chargable battery pack (due to dead batteries) but couldn't get it to work on my computer.

How did you do it?

Do i really have to go buy a little adapter thing or a truly wired controller?

Mostly the same. I use Right Joystick click (R3) for lock target, and L3 for autorun. I put map on start. I have two trigger buttons not doing anything currently.

This is kind of noobish, but how important is it to map this to a button on the controller? Can't the same thing be accomplished by using the button to the far left of the action bar?

Stack Battle Commands - X

I'm not even sure what stack battle commands and View status effects even does. And like Pyrenus I have my auto-run and lock target set to R3 and L3.

Dualshock 3, though I did have a 360 controller for awhile with the same mappings. Tried to keep a similar control scheme to XI.

O - Confirm
X - Cancel
Square - Menu
Triangle - Status effects
L1 - Autorun
R1 - Battle/Passive
L2+R2 - Macros
L3 - Lock on
R3 - Change view
Start - Map
Select - Emote/AoE

Don't forget that the control sticks also push in on an xbox 360 controller and provide you with 2 extra buttons.

I use the the left stick for movement and then when you push in the left stick I use that for autorun. It's really convenient because while you're holding up to run you can push in for autorun.

For the camera control stick I use the push in I think to switch between 1st and 3rd person.
