Curing others, do you do it?Follow

#1 Sep 28 2010 at 6:05 PM Rating: Excellent
Since I do rant from time-to-time I felt it was time I post something constructive, so I'm wondering: How many of you take out time from your activities to toss a friendly Cure spell on someone? Normally I spend almost all my time as I travel about casting Cure on someone who's nearing death, or if they're having a hard time I stand nearby and throw Cures to them to help out. Since there's no enmity for players outside of a party I needn't worry about hate. I get no skill-ups for it but I don't care, I'll still help even without a reward.

EDIT: **** me and posting before I actually take the time out to proof-read. >.< Corrected a typo.

I did this a few times today. Granted one was an LS member who had set stars too high on leve so i just stood and spammed cure. Another was that damned Botany site in Gridania where 3 wolves pop..... Me and 2 randoms teamed up as I switched to archer. Everytime tank was at 50% i threw a cure. No harm after all if that tank dies I'm next! (low Vit Arc)

I enjoy doing it if I know I'll be replenishing my MP soon or have no use for my MP. If I'm out grinding, sorry little Lalafell getting beat up by a dodo, I got efficiency to worry about.

Now that I've made macros to swap between all my main/sub weapons _ I'll be running around as BOT and if I see someone with low health or fighting something and in need of healing - I hit my macro and enter Active mode and toss them a Sacrifice. Even though I'm only Rank8 THM my heal is for about 175 with the Regen on top of that.

Macros make it sooo much easier to swap classes. I was just running to Camp Bloodshore to turn in a Leve and I was hopping between THM and BOT killing easy mobs for crystals (help Level Alchemy) - Healing people - and harvesting crap the whole way. It was awesome.

I was out by a stream near Camp Emerald Moss farming those Emerald Bee Swarms for crystals as CON. I just kept throwing out Cures between fights as I waited. Plus side is I got a bunch of crystals I desperately needed and loot to sell. Bad news is my gear needs to be repaired now. :P

Say, what's the text command for equipping an item to your off hand slot? SE says it's supposed to be /equip off "Itemname" but it doesn't seem to work, I've wracked my brain trying different commands and they all fail.

May sound dumb but the main reason i made Conjurer my main class was to help random people with cures/buffs.

Always. So many peeps did it for me at low levels (w.ron specifically) that I couldn't ever pass someone without tossing a cure if needed. Lol, if I was bored I might even end up Pl'ing and actually made some good friends doing so.

Edit* I like these kind of posts

I did that in closed beta when I played my Hyur Conjurer. I'd also use Stoneskin & Shock Spikes (which wasn't limited to people in your party) before before starting a guildleve, since doing anything involving Aetheryte would replenish my MP. Of course, that was before they changed it to once every 10 minutes.

When I started out in FFXI I had some very nice people running by me in starter zones who would cure me and cheer me on.
I kind of thought that was just a normal thing to do, so I picked it up and did it when I had a healing class and was traveling.
I plan on doing the same thing once I level a casting class in FFXIV.

Quick funny story... When my wife was stating out, she was a level 8 WHM in East Sarutabaruta, on her way to meet me in the Tahrongi Canyons. She happened to pass by someone having a lot of trouble killing a crawler. She had seen me cure people as I ran by tons of times so she thought she should help out and do the same. Problem was this crawler happened to be Spiny Spipi. It killed the random adventurer and then went right after my wife.

*facepalms* Now why didn't I think of that?! Thanks a bunch, rate-up. Curse SE for listing the wrong thing... Seriously, if you go to the lodestone and check the text commands it labels it as "off" for the off hand weapons.

That's why I'm glad there appears to be no hate when curing outside of a party setting. Unless you got means to replenish your MP you can effectively cure others without having to worry about hate. Tho I have noticed it seems to put a strain on your weapon, constant curing actions I discovered were actually wearing down my wand quicker.

I couldn't even get a cure during a behest today. It was like a million monkeys had keyboards and were throwing them into a wall.

I threw a couple of cures on an archer that was fighting a flytrap mob the other day. Didn't save them from imminent doom or anything, just cut on their downtime between fights a bit.

Are you sure it wasn't something like this?

(Seriously, someone needs to make a FFXIV parody of this about him trying to craft something, getting disconnected, or buying something from the retainers. :P)

that is one of my fav things to do.. since someone long ago ran up up and cured me in 11... I always do when I am running and see low health.. also some shock spikes or stone skin.

I mainly solo the game, so I enjoy it when I cure someone other than myself

I think that it's my nature to look at others' health bars to see if they need a cure because I did it so often in XI. I remember being so pleasantly surprised and grateful when mages would run by me and toss me a cure in XI, which is why I started making it a habit to check once I began lvling white mage :) The odd thing though is that rarely anyone seems grateful for the cures in XIV. I don't know if it's the clunky chatlog or just unfriendly people running around, but hopefully they are appreciating the cures!

i don't mind tossing out cures if i know i won't be needing my MP. the whole not being able to rest MP other than with aetherite is pretty counter intuitive for helping people.

i had someone today ***** at me for not curing them, but i wasn't close to a crystal and i was doing a leve, and my MP was maybe about 25%. i told him i was sorry, but he still was pretty *******

yeah I just hope people don't start to expect it. If I'm out farming I will definitely toss out a cure, give them stoneskin or shockspikes if they look like they may need it.

As i'm traveling through, I always toss someone a Cure or two, and even SS if they stay still long enough for it. Sometimes when i've been camping in caves, and groups come to do a leve in there, i'll help heal them so they can finish.

If I see it, certainly! Sadly all the curing yumminess is on my alt, since I can't be bothered reassigning stats for a full day only because I want to play a mage every now and then. So my alt is a pure mage, playing it every now and then, my main's focused on melee and crafting. But yea, me likes healing and I know how good it feels when you see your HP reaching zero and then out of the blue it goes whoosh, back to half or full.

Felt really bad when somebody had trouble with a Roseling and I wasn't able to cure yet. At least that person got away safely me thinks. ^^
