I have searched the forums, and I am surprised that I found only one post on this buried and without an answer.

When making a macro for rings, wrists, and earrings the macro guide on the Lodestone says to use...

/equip l.ear "earring"

...and so on.

I have used every variation of this >> Left Ear, l.ear, L.Ear, l. ear (notice the space), L. Ear << and nothing is working. Has anyone gotten this to work?

This may sound dumb but did you check the spelling on the item? I know I added an s to wristguard and it took me 5 minutes to figure out.

Edit: Was going to try this out for you but I actually don't have any earrings right now. Anyone else that has an earring care to test it?

Well I have an earring and a ring that I am trying to macro... so the likely hood of both being spelled wrong is low.

But, as a sanity test, yes I have quadruple checked the spellings lol.

Well I guess I'll give an example of my macros...

/equip l.ear "Copper Earring"
/equip l.index "Bone Ring +1"

Hmm, well try this. equip an earring the left ear slot manually then type /equip l.ear
The Lodestone says that this should unequip the earring, if it doesn't then we know it's something with the basic text command.

I have actually done that as well.

/equip l.ear ""

This will unequip a slot and it does work for everything else (i.e. /equip body "")

So, everyone else is using this exact macro line and it is working?

I ran into this issue (and it made the list) when I was trying to set up my macros. At first I thought all my macros were broken, but it turned out to be any accessory slot. The text on both the Lodestone and ingame is incorrect. Using /equip L.ring "Copper Ring" will equip a copper ring into your left ring slot. The documentation is wrong for all the accessory slots with a R/Left variant (that I could test). The documentation also appears to be wrong for the /check function. I reported both of these as a bug and I urge anyone with time to submit a bug report.

Additionally, you won't be able to equip multiples of the same item to different slots (a Copper Earring to each ear, for example), so don't bother wasting an hour trying to get it to work.

hm, interesting. I think I'll go ahead and bump this to draw more attention to the issue. Like Tidane said, submit bug reports on this to make sure SE knows of the issue.
