Hidden Social Effect of Hermes ShoesFollow

For me personally when I see another player running around with Hermes Shoes, I can almost feel a sense of kinship with him/her. It's like we used had a common experience in another world, once killed and fighted the same mobs...once went through dunes together...teleport up to Sky and fight the same gods.

Do you feel that way too or is it just me?

Hermes shoes? What, some kind of symbol?

Probably like 80-90% of the people you'll see in FFXIV will be former FFXI players.

Not really... when I see them, I'm just reminded that SE are a bunch of misleading jerks who promised

EFFECT: MOVEMENT SPEED INCREASE

and neglected to mention that it was only a near useless 15 minutes every day. I get more mileage out of Miner/Botanist abilities.

Seriously I would have cancelled my FFXI account a few months ago if it wasn't for thinking about getting a sweet full time bonus to movement (even if it was only 12%) from the get go...

I was thinking about reactivating my account but decided that the item would most likely not be worth the hassle and price.

I used to play FFXI but I quit years ago and refused to spend money to reactivate my account to get a semi useless level 1 item. So when I see people wearing them I always hope they didnt reactivate their account just to get the shoes.

Said it before, said it again...if you thought it would be a permanent bonus, you were naive. Don't blame SE for your own ignorant assumptions.

wat

Ok, I know that if it was a fulltime movement speed increase, people would be ******** up a blue streak about paying real money for major in-game advantages (and I wouldn't entirely blame them), but leaving out a detail like that strikes me as kind of a **** move.

Don't think you have any idea how stupid you sound. Who is thinking it would be a permanent bonus?

It's not a **** move. The item was intended as a bonus for people who were already playing XI and thus already had an active XI account. A bunch of hopeful numpties saw the item and figured, "HEY!! I'll reactivate my long-dead account just for the boots!!" And when they found out it's a bonus on a limited basis, they cry. Because they assumed, and because they were naive and ignorant. So they whine and ***** and blame SE. Like they always do. The players are never at fault, it's always SE.

The doorknob a couple of posts below you condemning SE for not telling them it wasn't permanent, that's who.

wait, a minute.

since when has SE cared about their player base ******** and complaining? this was a clever marketing trick. i have no doubt that in a month or two you'll see movement speed gear in their crysta points marketplace.
