To start, quit crying. Please. (Btw if you're saying, "I haven't been moaning or whining." Then this is not directed at you.) Some of you are worse than forum trolls. You're spoiled by games that are already 100% developed. It's not even release week. It's pre-release week. Beta was to work out the HUGE bugs. Yes there are still some, get over it. SE has never left the FF: Online community in the dirt for too long. ****, they're still putting out content for FFXI. But a lot of you played FFXI the day it was released in the states. You got a full game and an expansion. They had all the same issues in Japan on release day of FFXI, that XIV is having now. You whine about the JP's getting a game and having time to learn the systems and level up, blah blah blah, and then SE thinks everyone is big enough to handle a release of an MMO and you cry about that.

Make up your minds. Vanilla WoW was also a garbage release. But they added things and fixed bugs. SE isn't going to watch all the players struggle for the next 6 months. They'll step in when they have found complete solutions to the problems. And they've been doing this for a while, so I'm pretty sure they can handle the issues that are being presented.

Stop worrying. If you don't want to play, don't. **** maybe it'll free up some server congestion. But don't whine about a game during pre-release week.

This is going to end well.....

Just do what I do, pretty much ignore the general discussion forums for the next few months or so.

I'm generally too busy playing and enjoying to spend much time here. I'm sure that makes many people quite happy. I agree, though, it'll take time before the general community here becomes polarized between those who enjoy the game despite its blemishes and those who hate the game, and then the people who enjoy can chase out the haters and life will be grand...

Or we'll just end up with the XI boards all over again with a community that loves to hate the game and whine about it day in and day out for years.

Boooooo.

People are free to voice their discontent if it effects them.
What did you want people to talk about here with all the bugs and nuisances currently floating around?

A lot of complainers are more than happy forking out money to play this game, the negative feedback serves as a gauge on what should be prioritised for change in the future. That is to say, QQ results in improvement. Suppression of valid opinions and submission to SE's idealist but not working designs makes no sense if you want this game to be a improving game.

In the same fashion of you saying, if you don't like it, don't play. It can be said, if you don't like reading about it, then stop reading.
It's the case where people like what they are playing except they are being annoyed by nuisances, would you not complain in that scenario?

if it is a valid complaint that needs to be addressed.

But "this game is fail." end of comment is not helpful at all. If people are listing valid issues. i.e. casting lag, server crowding, buggy doors, updater issues. Those are valid. Because they can get feedback and help. People who list out why "This game is never going to work and here's why." That's invalid. A claim cannot be made like that without valid time to verify that complaint. In 3 months...then I'll understand a lot of it. But 7 days...cmon man.

Oh, I dunno, like maybe being able to come here and scroll through a list of threads with people discussing this or that about how to play the game instead of everyone and their malnourished dog being unable to resist the compulsion to start a new thread and whine like a fat kid with a skinned knee?

Like, maybe a community that has the intellectual aptitude to realize that MMOs ship with issues that need to be addressed in the weeks/months following their release and sniveling about those issues day in and day out does no good for anyone? There's a feedback forum here that is supposed to be reviewed by SE from time to time. If people could be bothered to use it like grownups and post constructive, concise descriptions of their issues with the game they could at least get it off their chest and move on with their lives. But no, they've got to act like spoiled semi-literate 9 year olds who just had their smarties taken away because they were feeding them to the heater vents in the car.

How many new threads do we need every day by crybabies whining that there's no auction house? NEWS FLASH! OLD NEWS IS OLD! Get over it and play the game or gtfo. But no, everyone wants to ***** and whine and commiserate with one another in the great broken record circle jerk of 2010. Because that's what the MATURE FFXI community does, amirite?

Well said, thank you.
I've really pretty much stopped posting here, except on downtime during 'maintance'. Tired of all the annoying useless threads. Wish there were more information on battle tactics, game guides, general game information.

This forum is in heavy need of moderation. I know it's a general forum... but I quite honestly don't care to read a game review/opinion from every knuckle-dragger that has the brain capacity to open an account on Zam.

Off-topic comment, but aren't those two Jay and Silent Bob? IDK if it's based off that but they look alot like the characters from this one show I've seen called "Clerks".

On-topic now, may as well get used to the complaints, they're not going away anytime soon until this stuff is fixed.

EDIT: Fixed something, I said bazaar searching which didn't belong in there. That's part of the retainer system being worked on.

EDIT2: Decided there was enough gripes, points have already been made so no reason for me to post a long-winded gripe myself. Sorry for those who had to read it.

All they released is a shell with no content at all. They didnt tell us that alot of content is disabled untill the second grp joins on the 30th.. So Why are you expecting us to assume that magically tehre will be new quests to do just because they come in 7 days later..

We have a right to QQ i have posted 4 things here all pretty negative but let me just say this before i get flamed. I am going to pay for at least one month to see if the game gets a major content dump or not because if it doesnt ther eliterally isnt anything to do yet. Past games ahve launched with at least a bigger story then what they are telling in my starting area. Gridania. All games have bugs but tis not even bugs that are chokeholding this game its lack of content lack of spaces to spread out everyone if forced into 5-6 spots for 2000 people even harvesting is a hassle sure you get exp for it but its cumbersom to an extreeme its the weirdest implementation of logging trees i have ever seen.

I love what i see i think they can do alot with it. The party system has no interop yet ie skillchains magic bursts are non existant noone is talking about them how to do them or what they do so im sure they just dont exist. I hope all the negative feedback lights a fire under SE to give us more and better quality and not make us wait 3 months for it.

I dont see why they had to rush this game. All its fans where more then willing ot wait longer for a more positive release.. Having played FFXI i thought it was the most positive release ever i didnt read anything bad about it all i saw was good even if they updated it weekly it was hardly a nuicense.

the complaints about item sorting, why wasn't this added at the start?

Despite the current issues and annoyances, I have found enough in the game to enjoy and keep me interested so far. However I have to say that regarding the sorting issue - this is a big red flag for me. I can't fathom how an entire development team wouldn't see the need to implement something as basic as item/inventory sorting. How did this game go through Alpha and Beta stages without this being addressed? I honestly can't even speculate a logical answer to this question - maybe someone else can ? Is the programming code underlying this game so flawed and inflexible that list sorting would be some major and difficult implementation?? Anyone who's taken an introductory computer programming course in their lives would have undoubtedly written a short sorting program at some point.

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ohohohohohohohohohohohohoho ahehehehehehehehehehehehehe

Also, only thing worse than a whiner is whiners whining about whiners whining. Although I do agree most of it should be kept in the FFXIV feedback forums to get across to Square Enix better, I've been trying to keep to that myself although I did make a thread in general asking folks for their opinion on things thus far. I will say, at the very least, all the whining will let Square Enix know just how many people are discontent with things and if they see enough of it they will usually get the idea as will any developer that enough people hate something so much that they might should change it. By all means I don't want the general forum to turn into nothing but complaints though. Maybe if there was a discontent forum? I dunno, again, I say, use the feedback forums!

Anyhow, carry on.

If you don't like it then don't look, lol.

You're just a crybaby like everyone else complaining about this terrible broken game except you are crying about the people crying for a reason.

If we could get refunds then everything would be fine. Paying $80.00 for a Beta gives people the right to ***** about the game.

You're kind of pathetic.

Maybe consolidate all the ******** about the game in to one thread? Like "The Official Why this Game Sucks Thread." That way, when people want to talk about how terrible this pile of garbage game is they can, and the idiot fanboys can go spend 4 hours browsing retain- er I mean ignore it.

Actually if you read the lodestone site, they did say that a lot of content would be lacking. Also, for those of you thinking I'm whining about people whining, I have a valid concern.

People crying about no AH: SE announced that it would be a bazaar driven market without an AH. They announced this pre-alpha.

People claiming they had a smooth launch with FFXI: In america, when we got it, the game had already been out for almost a year and an expansion was released.

People claiming that there are no skill-chain information charts: They are explained in the game's tutorial quests. FFXI didn't come with a SC chart. JP players figured them out and released them. That's why with american ship, we got an actual chart. We could already view it online.

When you bought any other final fantasy, did you know how everything worked. VII is the perfect example. Quadra magic linked to master summon. With another master summon linked to w-magic. And a counter linked to master summoner. This summoned knights of the round 8 times and countered with it 8 times. Square didn't tell anyone how to do that. We figured it out as players. That's why we play games. We figure out what the potential of everything is. Because we are that dedicated to the game to put true effort into it. Yes they shipped a shell of a game. But they know what the problems are. You paid 80 dollars not because you wanted to play a completed game 8 days early. You paid 80 dollars because you were excited to play, because you are a fan, because you are dedicated. Yes there are going to be complaints. I have my own. But I know for a fact that SE will pull through. I wouldn't have bought the game at all if I didn't wholeheartedly believe that. I know we have concerns. But voice them in a way that is constructive. Not in a way that sounds like a 2 year old child whining. I did not mean to attack everyone as originally viewed. I meant those people who have half-*** unsupported comments. If you have valid concerns, voice them by all means. But screaming that your sword won't swing doesn't help. "My sword won't swing, i'm clicking the attack button a lot and I have the mob targeted. My receive and send is high." That is something we can work with. It lists a lot of variables that can be taken into account and rules out what is not going wrong.

I suppose I expect the dedicated players who got in early to have a little bit more class and drive to actually solve problems, not moan and complain with no constructive complaints.

They don't exist?

Unlike the skillchains of FINAL FANTASY XIV, battle regimens are not only for dealing damage, but also can be used to produce the following effects:
* Lowers a target’s physical defense (normal attack -> normal attack)
* Lowers a target’s magic defense (normal attack -> magic attack)
* Increases a target’s casting time/raises MP costs (normal attack -> magic spell)
* Lowers a target’s TP progression/raises TP costs (normal attack -> weaponskill)
* Maintains the effectiveness of class abilities when used by different classes
(magic spell -> magic spell (both from same class))
(weaponskill -> weaponskill (both from same class))
* Increases player damage
(weaponskill -> weaponskill -> magic spell (weaponskills from different classes, finishing spell is optional))
(magic spell -> magic spell -> weaponskill (spells from different classes, finishing weaponskill is optional))
For example, when fighting a monster that has high physical defense, a regimen which will lower that defense is effective. On the other hand, when fighting a monster that uses magic attacks, a regimen that slows casting time and increases MP cost is recommended.

Odd.

Well, technically they don't exist.

We have BR and it sucks. None of those are remotely close to the spike damage function of a skillchain + magic burst.
(For now but we don't even know if it'll ever be worth using.)

That's the show I was talking about actually. I remember seeing this one cartoon (I don't remember what channel, I wanna say CN's Adult Swim... But unlikely.) and found it kind of strange and stupid. In it were these two odd-ball characters that greatly resembled the ones in your image above. I recall they ended every episode with some thing where Silent Bob teaches children some life lesson. I'll end the off-topic chatter now, I just wanted to respond to this.

Now, on topic, would you rather have the complaints on the forums here or something like this? Imagine listening to this non-stop.

Jay and Silent Bob have been around for awhile. They have their own movie and appear in Dogma, Chasing Amy, and Mallrats. Clerks is an old show and there's Clerks I and II (and the cartoon that someone else mentioned).

The eventual scaling of these things will be amazing I'm sure. Right now, the scaling is pretty low. I'd rather something be underpowered to start and be fixed to WAI (Work as intended). Exploits have been too big of an issue with FF online games. Start it at the bottom and work up.

If you would have opened your thread with this post then this thread would be 1,000 times better. ;)

Q.Qers just stfu just bc you want the game to fail doesnt mean other ppl do.
The people complaining don't want the game to fail, they want it to be enjoyable and fun, and their complaints are what are getting in the way of that. They want to see the game fixed so that it's as awesome as they expect of a SE product.

This exactly.

When reasonable people complain about something it's because they WANT to do business with you, but something's stopping them

When people give up, they don't keep talking about it, they just leave

Keep in mind I'm talking about reasonable people here which MOST of Zam is.. There are of course exceptions to this, but they're sporadic enough to ignore safely
