8%/-10 was a success?! holy crap. It sounds like there was either some sort of bug in the update, or they are trying to get high level crafters to buy their mats from low level crafters, but I feel like they would have told us something like that, even as tight-lipped as they are.

Forgive me,but when someone says "control+ gear",how is that identified in the gear description.
Is it when it just says "Favor" this class or that class?

I also have a strange debuff that tells me my gear is uncomfortable. I've stripped down to my undies and repaired everything. It's still there! I'm guessing it's because I'm wearing something that doesn't fit my class... but it's never shown up before last night. Also, undies are all classes... so I'm out of answers.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've seen this too,but was during open beta.
It was shortly after putting on a body piece that was above my current level.
A day or two later I also saw the message,"your gear is no longer uncomforable".

I just assumed it was kinda like growing into your gear or something. I may be completely off base, not sure.

Regarding a Synthesis Issue (Sep. 29)
As of the Sep. 29, 2010 version update, we have confirmed an issue where synthesis attempts are more likely to fail due to the basic commands not working as intended.

Investigation and recovery work is currently underway.

We ask for your patience in this matter until this issue is resolved.

It looks like the devs are aware of the crafting issue. The last patch borked something.

As for that buff about uncomfortable gear ... I witnessed that during beta. I repaired all the gear that I could ... and it still wouldn't go away. I finally realized it was my underclothes ... but I couldn't remove them to repair them. :O( I don't know if there is an "underwear vendor" in the game or not ... cuz it'll be hard for anyone to fix their underwear gear. Anyone know?

The repair NPC repairs your equipped items while they're still equipped. Also, yes, there are underwear vendors. I've seen one in Uldah in one of the marked NPC vendor malls.

Ul'dah you say? I'll have to remember to check. But that's good that the NPC repair guys can fix the equipped gear. Btu then again, they say that they don't fix it 100%.

The Ul'dah one, as I recall, sells underwear only for Hyur and Lalafell. You probably have to find a vendor in another city to get underwear for other races. The NPC guy fixes only to 75%. But he's cheap and and he's always there. It's pretty much good enough.

Ok, bear with me, this may be a stupid question. But playing this since OB, I have not been able to take off my underwear (in game, obviously lol). I can only repair it through the NPC. Is the only way to change undies to buy new ones from the NPC and equip them in over the old one?

Additionally, you could, in theory, carry around a change of underwear so you could swap them out to have someone else repair them.

Of course I just buy a new pair in Uldah (1k total for top and bottom) when I get tired of them breaking fast.

Correct, I believe, although I have not actually tried changing my undies yet. There are three slots in which the game will not let you be "naked": Main tool/weapon (because that determines your class and you have to have a class), and undershirt and underpants (because the game is rated T for teen). You can change equipment in those slots, but you cannot unequip them.

Thank god, I was hoping we weren't going to get a "working as intended" reply from it. Botching level 1 leve synths as a 13 TAN should NOT be happening. My new loathed message is: "Your standard synthesis is a success!" only to see my progress advance at the same rate as my durability decreases.

Glad this is a bug, and not just me. I just started crafting this morning, I switched to Goldsmith, and promptly failed 5/6 leves I had. I think out of all of the synths I've tried, only 3-4 total of the 24 were actually successful. I couldn't understand how people had leveled so far or thought maybe I was doing something wrong.

Alright, from the looks of it, the patch broke crafting. In OB, which should be the same as it is now, on success you shouldn't be losing 10+ durability and success on standard were either high progress/quality or both. Right now, success on bold synthesis gave terrible quality and about 10~ progress and DURABILITY loss. They are very broken atm, as I'm staying away from synthesis until its fixed. The materials are already expensive enough, I don't need more breaking rank 1 stuff when I'm rank 10+.

If you must synthesis use RAPID, as it's the one that's least affected. Rapid synthesis almost always nets you 4+ progress but at high durability penalty should you really fail, now it nets you 1 and 9 durability loss or more.

I'm glad I waited to start crafting in earnest Smiley: smile At least all I lost were my leves for this round, and not mats or crystals that I'd purchased.

Yeah it's been brutal after that patch. I pushed through it and made some progress, but probably had more failures than I should've. Here's hoping today's maintenance has a fix for it...

I bought some gear with control and craftmanship and it seemed to help. Here is hoping when they fix their f^ck up that my investment in gear pays off by actually allowing me to succeed with some recipes at my level or higher.

Sounds like perhaps they changed it so that crafting naked is no longer helpful.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Before the emergency-maintenance today, I ran some level 1 leves on Rank 9 Leatherworker and Rank 2 Goldsmith to see if there were any major side effects from the earlier patch that the OP had posted about.

In a nutshell, there were some.

My luck in crafting was still roughly the same as before, and I only failed 1/12 of the synths that I had free materials for. Along the way, I did encounter the durability draining at a far greater rate with standard pass/successes (about 10-15% progress for a 9-18% durability hit,) as well as major durability hits with standard failures (1-3% progress for 18-25% durability loss.) Bold/rapid success/failures were roughly the same.

Here's to hoping the 'emergency-patch on release date' fixes this plus some other problems.

I logged in late last night, but there was no update that was downloaded/installed. Is there usually a delay on when a new update appears? I haven't tried yet today (since I'm at work), but I will when I get home. Anyone see an update install?

Also, regarding Yolaine (the underwear vendor), I haven't had a chance to check in game yet, but some wiki sites say the underwear vendor is Yolaine, but there was one wiki site that said she had nothing to do with underwear (and only sold vegetables or something). Does anyone know for sure? I'm at work now ... otherwise I'd check.
