You can not hold more than 999 of any one type. All others you obtain from monsters are lost.

No, you can get around this by putting them up in your bazaar for unreasonable price and can carry effectively 999 in inventory + 999 X the number of slots left in bazaar.

Double that if you are using a Retainer ^^

Not obvious. You can usually hold multiple stacks of things.

This.

However, I only figured this out after losing probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 shards. I don't normally check my crystals nor would I ever have thought just because I got 999 I wouldn't be able to get anymore.

not only that, but you can trade 999 to your retainer, have them bazaar them for ridiculous prices ad trade another 999 for a total of 3996

If you take your 999 out of bazaar while already having started another stack will it cause any "issues"?

OP thank you, I didn't realize about it and for the amount of 999's in my crystal tab I bet I have been wasting some of them.

What makes you feel that if you know it then it's obvious? do you valuate your own knowledge like that low?

I can't say for the release, but for open beta, you lose anything in excess of 999....cos you can only hold 1 "stack" of each type.......same thing will apply with the retainers

I went to try this out just before the end of open beta.

I didn't mean to offend anyone as noted by my previous defaulting. It just simply seemed like common sense by them increasing the amount carried to a whopping 999 that you would be only able to hold that many. I didn't know the tricks to get around this, which is useful if you grind like crazy on mobs.

OK, so if you have 999 shards in your bazaar and you started another stack, let's say that one has 238 shards, you'll be unable to add shards to the stack of 238 at that point because you brought the stack of 999back into your inventory?

I would assume that the 999 stack would replace the 238 stack... If the 238 stack "replaced" the 999 stack that would suck..

Or it would be like diving by 0 and you would rip a hole in the fabric of space and time... or just crash your server :P

Kudos to the first person with the balls big enough to try it to see what happens

I really can't figure out where people get all these shards, I can barely make ends meet with some things due to the high shard increase for higher recipes. I had almost 200 earth shards one night, used them all up within a day trying to level weaving.

Depends what you craft I guess...
I have an abundance of Fire and Earth - yet I ALWAYS need wind
#19xthunderblazex, Posted: Sep 29 2010 at 2:25 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) When you have high enough surplus, it takes hundreds of mobs to level up. You get 6-12 shards per mob, with crystals on top.

Actually, I already expected this. While it's true that normally you can hold multiple stacks of things, the fact that the "stack" of crystals/shards is so freaking *big* combined with the fact that it doesn't actually occupy an inventory slot makes it logical that you only get to have one stack of each type.

If you are grinding outside of leves you rake them up fast.
