I've noticed this several times, and before I dinged rank 22 on Gladiator...I had 1302 HP, and now I have 1292, sup with that?

Did you equip different gear? If you did maybe new gear didn't have + HP on it.

Nope. Same gear. It's always right after I ding.

It happened to me sometimes during Beta. Never bothered to figure out why it was happening, but I'm hoping it's a bug because it makes little sense to get weaker as you progress.

Could this have something to do with "Optimal Rank" on gear? Check your gear and see if anything with an optimal rank gives you +hp or VIT.

It's called "getting older".

We hope you enjoy the lifelike gameplay features of FFXIV.

That would be pretty crappy if your gear starts to suck more as you level.

Interesting... I was going to suggest that maybe the gear was damaged before the ding but this seems just as plausible.

I wonder if certain items have a hidden effect of not working after a certain level......

Check your stuff for any +10 HP items, equip and unequip see if they're not working anymore.

So wait... Using gear lower than your physical level decreases its effectiveness? That's seriously stupid... Seeing as we have no control over our physical level it's a little hard to replace your gear repeatedly let alone afford to do that. I think it's a bug, or at least it had better be...

Hopefully a bug, but knowing SE... I was just throwing the possibility out there.

Did your gear break and maybe the game never checked for it until after you dinged to readjust stats? I've noticed this porblem in beta but I also always noticed something on my gear broke around then.

Rank is not Physical level. Gear was not broken, I repaired it, same thing.

Did you test the "Optimal Rank" theory? Remove a piece of gear that gives +hp or VIT and see if it is giving you the amount of hp it says it should. If it is giving you less than what it should: /target SE /no.

I did that before I posted. It removes the correct amount.

(They also give the correct amount when...100% broken.)

This happened to me today. I went from 1255HP to 1241HP after ranking up. I took all of my gear off and put it on piece by piece to see if it was still giving me the appropriate HP buff and they were all working as intended.

Sure would like to know what's going on with this or if it's going to continue to happen... :(

If this happens to me I will report it to SE. I encourage others to do the same. It just seems silly.

Got it too.
I think the HP given by VIT decreases slightly as rank increase. May be a bug, or just something to allow players to get a lot of HP in the first levels.

I've pushed my VIT up really high (70ish) and it seems that around 60 I stopped getting any HP bonus at all. is this working as intended?

It very well could be. SE has used diminishing returns equations in the past. Or perhaps physical level plays into the equation too. That could explain the drop in HP:

Physical level 1-10, HP = VIT*5 +X
Physical level 11-20, HP = VIT*4 +X

So dinging from 10 to 11 would actually lower your HP.

yes, at every rank level, there is a cap for physical level stats. that way when you start your rank 1 marauder with physical level 50, you arent 1 shotting everything with your 120 str.

Yeah this is definitely happening. My CON hp used to be above 600, now it is almost 500.

I am going to submit a bug report, even though it may be intentional.

If this keeps up, by end game I will have 50HP!

And then, you can equip some HP to MP conversion gear, and walk around with 1 HP, just like in FFXI!
